Description Why is Devi portrayed in such manner? Simply because as mother of
creation she is in constant state of purification. Like how day and
night exchange, Soma enters Devi at night and by day new life enters
into existence. While this happens on a constant cycle, Devi hands-
out her own Yoni to all female mortals and therefore expects them to
be purified in the same manner.

Hence the first mortal purification must be conducted after dusk (dark)
and in the position of Goddess Devi. Once first purification is
completed then she becomes Radha for the next 10 days. After the
10 days she becomes Rati. Then after a further 10 days she finally
becomes Parvati. It is advised that on an every anniversary, couples
repeat the same processes as much as possible.
