Description The coldest of autumn’s days upon me
My heart inside hath been coated of rime
Apple of thine eye grows strongest with thee
Determined to rid itself from foul grime
Collected from the darkest forest floor
The worms, infectious, aid in its rotting
Soon it will wither and be nevermore
Or such is the spiteful orchard’s plotting
Wind severs boughs letting the sun shine down
Birds land softly in the center of light
By wings of angels, garbed in mercy’s gown
They devour the worms and thus take its plight.
Though life was given, its shadow was cast
The tree will not let the apple live past.
