Description
I started this before I knew there was confirmation for Season 2, but I deem this drawing appropriate for this revelation. I just wanted the cast to look cool. You can tell I do enjoy drawing natural landscape and scenery.Believe it or not, I was almost done with this piece a day before, but due to comp crashing I lost all my work and the back up as well. Double whammy there.
Thank goodness that I still had the line art and I had to recolor everything all over again. I believe it was better than before. A curse and then a blessing I say.

I love the feel of this pic. It's so monumental and yet still speaks of their friendship. I really think the emphasis on their relationships with each other are what make this an amazing show, and you've portrayed those connections simply through gesture and positioning in this pic. I'm glad you recolored it even after you lost the work in your comp crash.
Also, it may be unintentional, but there are six breaks in sunlight to go with the six ponies and I love how the most prominent sunbeam twinkles off Twilight Sparkle's horn. That's cool.

This picture came out incredibly well. Looks almost like a painting or some such with that detailed and layered background. The shading used in the foreground makes the ponies stand out well and not clash with the darker backdrop. Excellent work.

It's an amazingly striking scene, with the heroic and unfaltering feeling from these six awesome young mares. They all look downright heroic, especially Twilight and Fluttershy, but the others look just as determined to keep Equestria safe. Pinkie and Applejack seem to be admiring the view the most, maybe a little because earth ponies rarely get so high and they're awed by the spectacle. I like that Twilight's body is turned as if she were facing her troops, explaining something important before turning back to look out at their domain.
While the ponies look striking and lovely enough, then the crepuscular rays bursting through the storm clouds, like goodness breaking apart the shell of evil, kicks up the heroic affect to another level. Maybe it's not Equestria at all but instead they're looking out into the Everfree Forest and beyond, lands to be tamed and offered the same peace found in their homeland. (Or maybe I'm just reading way too much into it. 
It's hauntingly beautiful.
