A young couple having a good time in each others company while proudly strutting down the main shopping street
,a spiteful almost jealous stare from an asian girl and a black guy whose eyes almost popped out of his skull when he saw this shapely lass walking towards him 
Everyday life....Street Photography,I love it!

Are you out in the open when you do this sort of photography or do you conceal yourself in a doorway or something similar. It always terrifies me at the thought of pointing my camera at strangers.

You`re certainly not alone Eve,many others on here I`ve read and co-erced with would have kittens at the prospect of shooting other people in public 
I`m always out in the open when I street shoot Eve,I see this was shot at 88mm so I was probably 20-30 yards away and if I recall sitting on a bench waiting to see what interesting scenes played out in front of me

I think you are very brave. Especially in this day and age when, not only would there be much suspicion as to why you are pointing the camera at people, it doesn't take much to be set upon by hooligans on city streets these days. Take care.

Don`t worry Aunty Eve,I can handle myself and I`ve literally taken 100`s of Street shots now (80% were from last year,haven`t done as much this year yet but want to sort that out now in the Summer 
Also 3 security guards in London,two said no one was allowed to shoot their building,ridiculous cos I only had to go 10 yards further back and I was out of their territory and could shoot it there anyway

The depth of field in this is brilliant, 
I gotta take more shots like this. Do you just wait, camera at the ready, on a street bench and take these shots covertly? Or do you walk around and take them brazenly? Whatever, an amazing piece of observation, Jonny

Lot of techniques and approaches can be taken for street and I`ve tried most already I imagine.
For this particular shot,I sat on a bench and waited to see what interesting developments came my way...exhibit A^^^

You're welcome. I thought this shot deserved comment, as does a lot of your stuff. I don't always get the time to comment and I hate to fave a shot without doing so.
I love street, I could look at it all day long. Especially good stuff like this. There are a few reasons why I don't get to do it. As I already mentioned, I don't get that much free time and my passion other than photography is walking, so when spare time permits I'm in the Yorkshire Dales or the North Yorkshire Moors, primarily. Another reason is that I live in Leeds. To do street I would have to go into Leeds where, and don't ask why, I am quite well known and I would hate to be seen wandering around with a camera. There's a bit of a trainspotter stigma attached to it in the circles I move in.
I like the 'seated on a bench' approach that's probably the one I would go for, it's gotta be more subtle than sticking a camera in someones face. That wouldn't go down well in Leeds, I just know it wouldn't.
Anyway, all of this is just academical at the moment. I may be moving shortly to a very remote area, that's where I am at the mo. The nearest large town is three hours away. Nothing deffo yet, but keep an eye on my journal

I can understand that Steve,it`s never the easiest option I don`t think to shoot street in your own backyard and the general person (that may well know you as you say) wouldn`t get street and would simply think it strange to want to shoot a complete stranger

Great street shot, interesting choice of blur. I dislike the fact that on my very bright monitor, there are areas that are just blacked out however, is this due to post-processing?
