Description
The magic bird of the cloud forest...the Resplendent Quetzal. It was a dream that I would at least see this bird. I saw it on several occasions near Savegre (Costa Rica) and had absolutely outstanding opportunities for photography. At one time several males and females were sitting in the very same tree. Like all trogons, they are generally relaxed and slow-moving birds. I can still see their heads slowly swiveling back and forth as they scanned the tree tops...occasionally stopping to gulp down a small avocado. Mission accomplished!Related content

No, Birds of Paradise are found primarily in Papua New Guinea. They certainly do have some similarities!

From the thumbnail it looks like the bird is sitting on a snow-covered branch! I was going to comment with "Isn't that tropical-looking bird a bit cold?", but now of course I see that it is just some strange tree-moss-stuff
Really, really great shot for many reasons, but #1 for me would be the really tight composition. I love the swoop of its tail standing out against the lines formed by the background branches, and the empty space above its head is perfect for drawing attention there.
