You've managed to make her glow! Her skin is beautiful, the hair detail is awesome (though I've come to know it as one of your signature skills).

Well done Dave, I think your flesh tones are better a little bit warmer, hair looks very real.

I must say, this happens to be one of my favorites of all your pastels, which I think are beautiful.
There's something about her captivating eyes and her lazy hair that makes her look very inviting and warm, but also seductive. It's really a beautiful piece, and the medium really lends to the subject. Very, very well done.

Have you ever thought to share your methods with pastels...or are they secret?? I only ask, cause I have been using soft pastels...but I hear of artists using a yellow ochre underneath for flesh tones.... I have not yet tried actual flesh tones yet...I do have a pic, I want to give it a try...but my usual techniques have been all contrast colors soo far with yellows oranges and blues together....so was just curious!!!!

Definatly not secret, but I warn you I don't really know what I'm doing, I just try and use them the same way I use oils and hope for the best, (and my oil technique is kinda "unconventional" at best )
Having said that I will explain best I can, but I thin kI will have to make a video of it would be easier.
I work tonally, so no blues or anything, just a tonal grade from raw umber through burnt sienna and yellow ochre to white. I just put down a whole bunch of darks (raw umber, burnt sienna, yellow ochre) in what I think looks about right, then get my trusty super soft titanium white and put it straight over the top of everything, then blend it all madly till my finger loses skin. then if it doesn't look quite right a just keep adding stuff (1 of the above colours) till it looks right...
hope that helps......I'm really just trusting my eye and hopeing for the best..

Beautifull work like a child within, reminds me of hanging down from trees and being free as a bird. I like the joy in her eyes.
