Description
(As you all can tell, things are starting to wind down when it comes to the regularity of the Godzilla Neo updates, due to deadlines and such...nevertheless, this'll make sure it's a long-lasting series!)Water Dragon
MANDA
Length: 200 meters
Mass: 9,000 metric tons
Bio:
(from Legend of the Yamato Guardians) -
"The Sea God MANDA ruled the ocean with the rage that made her a Spawn of Orochi, and created chaos that impressed even Susano'o. In particular danger was the nation of Mu, though the Empress refused to send her armies to fight Manda, for fear that she was indeed the Dragon God incarnate, and that the people had done some evil to anger the serpent.
Nevertheless, the Priests of Yamato appeared to stop Manda. The kindests of the priests had stuck upon an idea, and went to a beach shore to call on an old friend of his. A small turtle came ashore and conversed with the kindly priest, and he asked of his friend to find something within the sea to quell Manda's rage.
Three days passed, and the turtle returned to the beach, dragging with him a colossal pearl of such beauty that the priest was rendered speechless. He presented the pearl to the Queen of Mu, and, taken aback by the gentle priest, offerred the pearl to Manda. As soon as the dragon's eyes fell upon the pearl, her rage was squelched, and she became the guardian of Mu, as long as the pearl was in the nation's protection."
Manda would be reawoken many years later to fight against an incredibly vicious foe...
Abilities/Aspects:
- Extremely powerful coils exert hundreds of thousands of points of pressure per square foot.
- Armored scales guard against most conventional weaponry.
- Can generate intense electrical power through fangs in excess of 1 million volts.
- Swimming speed in excess of 60 knots

This was probably one of the more original ideas (as opposed to Jaguar and Frankenstein) of Toho Monsters Inc. Seriously, a sea-serpent that generates lightning bolts?
Too bad Digimon, when taking the idea, used it so poorly. They made that Manda rip-off into a totally easy to kill scrub!

A few problems I have with this:
1. Manda is NOT a she. Never has Toho stated he was a she. I think the main reason people mistake him for a she is that "Manda" sounds alot like "Amanda".
2. I'm not sure the flippers would work so great for Manda. Although mainly aqautic, he does move on land from time to time. Flippers would elimanatethat land movement, causing problems. Unless he can haul himself over the ground like a sea turtle.

Well, to be fair, I'm uncertain if Toho has ever officially stated Manda's gender in any of its film appearances, and I'm sure that Manda could move on land even without legs, it could just slither about like a big snake.

A female Manda gives some variety to Orochi I guess, but it works. Manda hasn't ever really done much, has she? This gives some power to her.

Man, your artwork and bios on these Godzilla Universe thingees are awesome. You should get them all together and propose a book for Toho studious. They just might take you up on it. Peace. Riddle.

As a person with a deep, seething, irrational hatred for all things draconic, I don't mind saying, this has always been one of my favorites.
For some reason serpentine dragons don't bother me much. And this one really plays on all that. The mosasaur-elements are part of it, but even they're minor. All in all, it just manages to feel majestic, yet feral and powerful at the same time.
I LOVE that fluke.
