Description
Aquatic DinosaurTITANOSAURUS
Height: 65 meters
Mass: 27,000 metric tons
Type 1 - Beast Class
Bio:
For all intents and purposes, Mecha-Godzilla was the perfect fighting machine....but only against one monster. The combined efforts of Godzilla and King Caesar had defeated the magnificent mechanical construct, so it made logical sense to even the playing field, as the Simeon reinforcements saw fit. Of course, the space apes were not terribly adept at mind-control technology, and their warlike nature prevented any alliances with other races in the solar system. So, they sought out a disgruntled scientist, Dr. Mafune, and after saving his daughter Katsura's life through advanced robotics (as was the race's forte'
Dr. Mafune was the best ally availible for the Simeons because he had achieved that which, to that day, no human had achieved yet: control over a daikaiju. Thus, Dr. Mafune brought to the world TITANOSAURUS, a collosal spinosaurid from the Sub Oceanic Biosphere, and the only supposed surviving member of its species.
Titanosaurus is controlled largely through hyper-sonic sound waves, of which are only perceptible to certain species of animals. It was the right combination of these soundwaves that allowed Mafune's computer to override Titanosaurus's higher brain functions and turn him into a ferociously aggressive fighter.
The rebuilt MechaGodzilla and Titanosaurus launched an all-out attack on the Japanese mainland, and leveled city after city. Godzilla quickly intervened, but was beaten within an inch of his life but the tag-team titans.
Only with the intervention of INTERPOL and the re-awakening of King Caesar was Titanosaurus freed of his mind control and Godzilla able to soundly defeat MechaGodzilla once and for all, and the Simeons were harshly driven from Earth. Titanosaurus, however, was greatly wounded in the battle, as at its end, INTERPOL was able to free the dinosaur from his servitude, and King Caesar convinced him to fight alongside himself and Godzilla. When MechaGodzilla unleashed its final, deadliest laser-cannon, Titanosaurus took the full force of the blast that was intended for Godzilla, and the noble creature fell off of a high cliff and into the ocean, where he would disappear until the late 1990's.
Titanosaurus, or another like him, was eventually found and coralled at the Monster Island facility at Ogasawara.
Abilities/Aspects:
-Extremely succeptible to high-frequency waves
-Expandable "fan-tail" capable of creating gale-force winds
-Normally a very placid fish-eater, but will become aggressive if cornered or injured
-Resistant to most small-arms and heavy ordinance, but relied on MechaGodzilla to eradicate military force (would otherwise be seriously injured by an all-out attack)

I have to admit, if you're going against physics to begin with, you might as well have fun with it. It looks neat, definitely different from a physical Godzilla clone (minus the fire breath). Gives him some originality. Also, the new tail, after seeing the old one, looks much more fitting.

This guy actually looks like it could be a real dino, though obviously on a much much smaller scale.
Excellent work! Though I know probably everyone's been telling you that all the time anyways

The design is killer. Very good work. To be critical, the only thing I wish you hadn't changed was the detailed underbelly that the original had. Titanosaurus had a sort of armored carapace that made him "thick" or strong. That was always kind of cool about him. Other than that, excellent work. Your Neo series is amazing. Look forward to more designs in the future.

I think if they ever make another Godzilla fighting game they should consider this as their Titanosaurus. He's always been a fav of mine, kinda because he isn't overly powerful and therefore the "under-dog". That being said...the original Titan just looks awkward...they NEED you! Ha.

Very interesting how you transformed Titanosaurus into a more Spinosaurus type creature. It does make it look more agile and ferocious than the previous vers.
LOVE your Godzilla Neo series. It's just so awesome.

I can't help but agree with Gregole. It's designed well, but it is missing that charm the original had.

Since I'm the only one even bothering to criticize, I infer that you're calling me out.
You do NOT want to get me started. I could write a hundred page thesis on all the reasons that this design is the epitome of illogic.

Okay i'd like to see this thesis. 100 pages right? Let's get "started". Don't "infer" shit with out actually thinking it through, if i wanted a reply from you I would have replied TO YOU. I've seen your work, those who can't do, criticize.

GREGOLE In reply to SparkStudios [2008-12-07 17:30:57 +0000 UTC]
First of all, you're inferring without thinking right now, if you think I'm only criticizing because I can't draw as well as Matt. With all due respect to the man, I vastly prefer my style anyway.
Second of all, you may not have been asking for a reply from me, but you were obviously calling me out. You may not wish for me to respond, but tough shit. Don't start what you can't finish.
And for your information, the reason I hate this design is because it not only doesn't look a damn thing like the original, it also doesn't feel like it or have any of the charm. It's a completely unrelated entity, through and through. Titanosaurus was a retro-dinosaur by any standard. And he had a charm that making him "accurate" would, and in this case has, ruined.
So why don't you sit back and shut it and let me think what I want.

Regrettably, this is one of those four that I flat out dislike. And it's for one reason and one reason only: He's too dinosaur-like.
A fifty foot and fifty meter dinosaur are not going to be built the same. It's as simple as that.
Titanosaurus was a bulky, upright retro-dinosaur, with some sea serpent features. He was muscular, he was one of the strongest beasties in Toho's lineup, and he looked the part.
I don't like the idea of him being a spinosaurus. For one, spinosaurus wasn't a muscular or powerful dinosaur. For another, Titanosaurus was never modeled after one. When Titano was conceived, spinosaurus was an allosaur with a fin on its back. I'm not sure we even knew about baryonyx.
They just don't go together. Spinosaurs were thinly built waders who could barely swim. Titanosaurus was a master swimmer with incredible strength. They don't go together at all. This version couldn't possibly throw one of Titano's trademark uppercuts.
And it's not realistic for a giant monster to be built like that anyway, so I really don't see any justification of the design changes.
That said, everything else about the design, I like. The color, the texture, the face, the fins, the antennae...
And I'd better not get called out by half the fanbase for saying that. >_>

Gareku In reply to GREGOLE [2009-07-12 19:35:02 +0000 UTC]
So true about a 50 foot and a 50 meter being built differently. Unfortunately, most of the fandom doesn't realize that when redesigning kaiju and then we essentially get a bunch of dinozillas and other "realistic" abominations.
As for Titanosaurus neo, I don't mind the Spinosaurid take as much as how it was applied. In this case, Matt went for the literal "blown up dinosaur" look. With Godzilla Neo, he stayed a lot closer to the original when compared to this one, simply adding more dinosaurian features to an established design.
I think that should have been the direction with Titanosaurus, stick to the original and simply add more dinosaurian features. Take the original and make the legs slightly more dinosaurian. Hell, he could still incorporate some spinosaurus features like the snout, and perhaps he could take the original Titanosaurus arms and just put some hook claws at the end. But meh.
