And finally the air types! While trying to make these a little more biological, I studied cephalopod eyes and really wanted to show some of the weird ones off, so I gave fuuocta more of a nautilus-like appearance. I chose to interpret the weird wavy lines on its arms as something that could have been ripply fin membranes if the DS could render that many polygons. That way it has more to catch air with!
Poor octaballoon is so redundant now. I had a bit of a surprise when sorting these out, because while I chose to just translate the prefix of any of them that had a kanji plus 'octa', there actually WAS a skyocta in addition to (skykanji)octa, so I used that as an excuse to invent a design out of whole cloth and call it soraocta. Who doesn't like tentacle membrane wings, right?
Meanwhile AS I was finishing this, I checked out and saw that the new Zelda 4 remake has given us a clearer look at ol' patapata, and they've decided to go with birdy wings (it was pretty vague before). On one hand, I could have changed it... On the other hand, this makes more sense, looks more like the original sprite, and doesn't compromise by adding them to the sides of the body-bulb (admittedly that would make it look more like a dumbo octopus which might be cool, but... nah)
