Description For some time I've been using Multi-Parts in my MLCAD projects. Recently I learned how to create Sub-Models Multi-Parts. Instead of creating separate .dat files, and then import them into a new file, I now know how to create individual sub-models, and have them act as a part instead of a separate set. I created this mech to celebrateand experiment with my new knowledge, as every movable piece is a separate sub-model. Sadly, I was forced to make a few modifications to the original set, as LDraw has yet to release a few parts I require to make this a rendering of the "official" model.

Anyways, for the curious, this set is the "7313 Red Planet Protector" (slightly modified due to lack of "official" parts) from the Lego Space sub-theme "Life on Mars." Released back in 2001 at a time when NASA was beginning to explore Mars in earnest, Life on Mars is unusual among Space sub-themes for this focus on discovery over combat. It centered primarily around astronauts exploring Mars, and Martians investigating the astronauts, and possibly the two working together to build the first 'human' colony on the Red Planet.

On a side note, it seems a certain Martian girl has decided to fill in for Test Guy. I'm not sure who she is, but she seems determined to do whatever she is doing. I'd stay out of her way for the moment; no telling what a determined woman in a walking laser-firing tank will do to get her job done...

Constructed in MLCAD/Rendered in LDView.
