sounds like an old saying "you had one job... and ruined it", still not everyone has a watch these days, i would look at my cellphone instead, sure it's old and barely works, but it says what time is it in green numbers

I completely understand. While I have nothing against Adventure Time, I'm not overly fond of it either.
The programmed response has been done to death. It's more fun to do something else. You can go with the literal or with the always entertaining "time for you to get a watch". But there are quite a few fun alternatives:
