Fun idea and certainly relatable!
Can't help but wonder if the text boxes with "It's right here..!" etc. don't subtract a bit from the overall visual statement, though? Anywhere this would be used as a punchline, I think these elements would be already implied by the situation and the mascot desperately pointing at the neon-lit sign.
Still, it is funny, relevant and well-executed. I'll keep it in mind for all my awkward "I made a funny, damnit" moments. ;D

I've seen this actual approach used in modern cartoons some. Something funny happens, then - because they're not sure kids are smart enough to get it (or the joke's funny enough), they'll underscore it a few times, pull back with big flashing neon lights pointing at it going "HEY THIS IS THE JOKE, LAUGH NOW!"
