Para-social relationships with actors or pretty much any celebrity tends to be unwise since we're only being exposed to ONE side of them with their body of work without knowing a thing about their private life.

However, it is kind of hard to practice that when someone like Carl Weathers comes along.

Someone who unscrupulously just loved doing what he was good at, had a hopelessly magnetic charisma and received nothing but good word-of-mouth from pretty much everyone who got to work with him. Someone who could brighten up nearly any project with his mere presence and evoked respectful admiration.
I wouldn't be surprised if Mr. Weathers was the closest thing to what Gene Wilder's chocolatier described as "The man who got everything he always wanted and lived happily ever after", he just seemed very content with his career and the way it simultaneously brought so much joy and entrainment to others.

His unexpected exit still came as a very bitter news to many, understandably. But I say, we shouldn't be too sad. He still made himself immortal with everything he was in, and he lived a filling and healthy life until the very end, knowing he's still loved and respected, and without any pains or illnesses in his final years, so I'm convinced he went to bed with a content smile before closing his eyes and becoming one with the place where dreams are born.
Sooner or later it would've ended, it's inevitable, but all things considered, our good old Carl had a great run 'til the final moment.

Good night, sweet prince. Wholesome and badass guys like you come once in an eternity.
