A speculative design for the Ue Mistake Not... from The Hydrogen Sonata, with a Psychopath class ROU to scale.

The appearance of the ship inside its field enclosure remains mysterious in the novel, and its class and unit type are unspecified. It is estimated to be of order a kilometre long and up to 400 metres wide, and it is more than a match militarily for even the most capable Gzilt capital ships it encounters. It seems to be something approximating a General Offensive Unit (the Culture's dedicated warships) presenting as a more civilian ship like a General Contact Unit, and so counts as 'nominatively camouflaged' like the Troublemaker LOU and the Abominator 'picket ship'. The similarity to the Abominator extends to the fact that Vyr Cossont is accommodated aboard a shuttle carried inside the ship, suggesting a lack of internal passenger space. Therefore I have portrayed the Mistake Not... as a large Offensive Unit, having some similarity to the Troublemaker but hopefully being a believable precursor/stablemate to the Abominator.
