I did one of these a long time ago now but realized not long after I'd done it that wasn't exactly isometric. So today I was asked about one and it reminded me that i was going to do this! Finally got around to it. I hope it's both clear and helpful, but I'm sorry if not! I'm a terrible teacher.

Feel free to use this circle as a base if it's the right size for anything you're trying to make.

EDIT: I forgot to mention in this tutorial that you can just do the one side and top and flip them around to make the opposite side, no need to do it all separately!
