Yes, we all knew the spankings were coming. The sad part is I didn't even develop enough of the story to decide if they were going to be a canon part of the characters interactions. I think I would eventually have hinted at it, like the main character would show a propensity for it and the female cast wouldn't mind indulging him now and then, but nothing to the fun of this scale. Technically Ria and Gail did have a bit of a rivalry going on that would have warranted this. Gail was never one to take things seriously if she could be competitive about it. Her decree that she wouldn't even romantically consider a man if they couldn't defeat her in combat led to the MC trying multiple times to do just that, leaving his academy dueling record at an abysmal 0-172. The twist was supposed to be all 172 of those matches were against Gail and all those losses gave him the experience to become ridiculously strong himself. The turning point was when the MC figured out he had fallen for Ria and had to break himself on his years long simp streak. Finally defeating Gail on the graduation day, everyone thought the first thing he was do was ask her out. Instead, he turned to Ria and asked her to be his woman instead. When asked why he defeated the strongest fighter in the academy first, he said simply that he didn't want Ria to think he was settling for her. Gail, in her puddle deep train of thought saw Ria as a homewrecker for this. How's that for an exposition dump?
