Of course I went to my friend of many years, BBMBBF for the character design. It was lucky I got to him when I did as his studio was going through many changes. I think he was tired of all my spanking commissions too, so it was probably a good thing I decided to try to avoid them at the start of this story. Reiji was a small break from usual male characters, having only one major discerning feature. Reiji was to have a full palette of emotion, he didn't start off well trained or with an understand of anything. he didn't even have a clear goal in mind. His story was going to be about finding his place and the rigorous journey it would take to do so. The reason he has so many weapons is because he couldn't master any of them and had to employ a certain number of trick and the ability to switch on the fly to make up for what his skill in each of them lacked. Of course though, I had to give him special eyes. I don't know why but I love it when you can yell it's about to hit the fan when a characters eyes Change, Ryokai's eyes have tears of blood when he's about to go off, Johnny's eyes do the same through rupture when he becomes that mindless hulking beast. Reiji was to be no different. Only capable of magic when he was bleeding, there would be times he'd become so enrages, his eyes would form tears of blood and he was go on an absolute tear. I love those kind of scenes, were the timid battle average character turns into a juggernaut and everyone who teased and looked down on him suddenly has a world of respect. Unfortunately he was my last one to be able to do this.
