No Villians have no soft side. Vader is a pansy though. Turned back to the light. Fool. Revan! Now there's a villain! In the version I choose he rules the Sith, gets a bang on the head, forgets everything, remembers everything again and rules the Sith again! Palpy was a little foolish going to Endor when half of his force gifted advisors told him not to. Thrawn was good, but unfortunately he couldn't have calculated how powerful the force was. I hate the way the good guys win...

Haha, well, characters should at least have some good qualities. A good villian is an interesting villian. If someone were completely evil, it seems cartoonish and unrealistic, and also makes him a boring character.

Not true. Its style that makes a badguy. They can be completely ruthless, but if they have style, it works out. Look at Albert Wesker from Resident Evil Veronica X. No good side whatsoever, but he wears balck and has shades, so he is cool.
Same applies for goodguys. Its all style, my friend.

not good sides, necessarily, it is possible for someone to be completely evil. Good qualities, like loyalty, courage, ect. If the enemy is too crappy, it seems cartoonish... aka. cowardly, backstabbing, completely selfish. They can be an evil character with good qualities, and it adds more dimention. Otherwise you have a walking cardboard cut out. Remember, the most boring main characters are ones that do only good things for no reason. They are flat, and have no realism. Same applies for bad guys. If they are competely crappy for good reason, it might make them interesting, but too much of it, and they are exposed as flat, predictable characters.

All depends on a point of view. I like my evil characters ALL evil, maybe insane, maybe just power hungry, but with no chance of them turning good. I like my good guys with either a comedic side, or have a slightly darkside that is only occasionally seen.
But it all depends on your point of view. This is just my preferences.

That's true. I have always felt that crazy evil characters are a cheap way out of giving them real character, unless it was caused by something. Good or bad, they should be more than a cardboard cut out.
And having good qualities doesn't mean you can turn good at all. In fact, the character can still be the most ruthless, evil crap alive and be brave and honorable. It just means he won't run away from his opponent if they are stronger than him, or if he's losing. And perhaps won't play unfairly. Anyways... yes, I suppose it is preferences, but also it's the difference between a good and well-balanced character and a flat one.

This makes me giggle... in my 11th grade history class my teacher had a poster that said "Who's your daddy?" with Darth Vader... because it came out on Father's day? Ya know? And so this is like... the perfect follow-up. Love love love.
