This started with a dinner discussion with the people who are listed at the top of the tutorial...
Parts of this are based on real instances. God knows the notes and questions that those poor thousands-of-pageviews artists get. I pity them!
I also get really weird questions from people I don't know that are like "omg how i draw leik u??//"
No, don't ask that. Just don't.
I suppose this is also because I hate the crap that's getting posted... Stick figures rarely are art, kiddies.
This is not an attack on any one person!
It's just for fun!

Some people have to start small with things like stick figures... I see where you are coming from with the point that people shouldn't post it. But if it is personal artistic advancement then I think people should post it. If you look at my gallery when I first started posting things I was TOTAL shit. I would like to think I have advanced since then.

Eh. I wasn't always an artist, and I never had an art education outside of grammar school art class, so the first step kinda peeves me a little. When I first joined deviantART, I was literally drawing stick figures. But through the help of the wonderful people on this site, I have improved over the years. Sure, sure, you may not like looking at tons of stick figures, but it may be the best this person has done and they're proud of it. Now, if someone who obviously has ability is uploading a ton of stick figures because they're lazy, then there's a problem.
But yeah, I agree with you about the whole being full of yourself thing. Though, I'm guilty of asking a few people how to draw. There was a time when no matter what anyone told me, I couldn't get the concept of shading at all, so anything with shading completely mystified me.

I'm not saying you can't be proud of it -- I'm talking about the people who do that sort of stuff and demand it get the same attention as something else. It may sound cruel, but a lot of higher quality stuff takes a LOT more time, so it deserves much more attention. If someone is drawing stick figures and seeking advancement and encouragement, I tend to oblige.
Haha, I know what you mean. People always told me that I drew necks too long, and it literally took me years to finally be able to see it.

Haha. I just realized that I started both comments to you with "Eh."
I get what you mean about the time factor. When I was first starting out, I think the longest amount of time that I was spending on anything was 8 hours. Of course, looking back, I could do the same thing now in 30 seconds, so it still boggles my mind how it could possibly have taken that long.
Just as an aside, I find it really ironic that when I was drawing what amounted to stick figures, my artwork got a lot of attention. Now that my artwork has improved by leaps and bounds, my work rarely gets seen. Of course, 5 years have passed since I first joined the site, and the community has grown much larger, allowing much more to slip through the cracks.

Totally. Things I draw in pen in a minute are far better than things I would labor over for what seemed like endless hours.

I've never really had to encounter people like this, mostly because, well, I'm not exactly someone who tries too hard to get page views, so I don't usually attract them too much not to mention I've only seen them from getting linked to their pages without knowing it.
But still, this is still *le gasp* amusing, and it's so true too. xD! This deserves an auto-fave on my part.
