lol I remember a few times GIR did that to ZIM. It's always so adorable and ZIM always rejects it lol. Course he's not the 'love' type far as I can tell cause he's pretty much cruel to anyone lol.
Although, I noticed there are some times that he does show feelings ( friendship like, or feel bad for him and such and such feelings not 'love" ) for GIR, oddly. Despite he hates GIR for his stupidness. And the trouble it causes him. lawl. XD
ZIM is about to pull off GIR, that's why his hand is like on GIR's arm.
I think I'm getting the hang of the style now. Just the head of ZIM need more work. |D

If you haven't noticed I'm trying to learn the style, I wanna try something but I need to know the style before doing so. This drawing only took 30 minutes. Due to simple character designs. Lavender is harder to draw uggh.
I know the background is failed. I took only 3 minutes into drawing that. And the monkey picture I know is wrong too, this was a quick sketch and I'll fix it later lol.
(edit: An oddity, I don't remember having this submitted to a ZAGirR fan club.. lmao. I must've accepted it without knowing what the club is. Ah well. xD
I don't support any pairing in this show, never even thought of love in the show, it's too full of vengeance to have love. lol )

Heya, I saw you wanted some critiques! ^^
For drawing in the IZ style, you've got things like Zim's outfit spot on, but I'm a bit iffed by his height! The ratio between his body and head is a bit funny, his head is actually quite large compared to it.

If you look closely he's got point feet too, and very straight simple hand gestures. You're an artist with a lot of dynamics, and IZ is terribly difficult because of it's lack thereof! His eyes are a little larger but I always stuff up the eyes myself
I'm glad to hear you are open critiques. Not too many people are, and I try to encourage it myself, because ever since I was open to it, I improved dramatically over the months I've submitted. I give you my best wishes for improving, you're almost there!

I thought that was just weird! I mean, you'd think as the animator, they'd know what they're colouring, so they couldn't have done it by accident.. but still, what is the point of it? It's creepy! Sorta subliminal don't you think?
Yeah, exactly! That and the styles varied within it's own self, depending on which animator was hired at the time. It's like our own art, as we improve, the style changes to a way that we find looks better. The original episodes where not terribly consistent because of it (Hey you haven't seen the Pilot ep, have you?

Oh, of course not all are great! I think I have more in mind a particular watcher of mine gives, she's very detailed and always gives wonderful suggestions, rather than leaving me in the dark. Some people don't do that however, and I have seen that. It's up to us to intervene and ask them "And how do we fix this?". That's the idea with criqtue, not just to alert the problem, but suggest, if possible, how to fix or avoid it.
Hmm, school books and scrap paper is for me! Soley a digital artist, sketches put onto paper that used to have university print out notes is my usual target. Having a whole lot of it saves trees - that comes with being a defendant for using both sides of the paper 
Ai, of two different worlds, yet so similar! I used to watch in my early days here a tonne of IZists when I first started, good and mediocre, 150 or so. I only had the heart to knock it down to 100, and ever since then I hadn't watched more than 2 people, that including you. I've been picky since! With that said, you didn't need to watch me back! It was of my own interest to watch you, so no favours were needed to be given! XD It's fine though, I picked up you're quite busy, I am too actually! I oddly though took more time to answers your messages, I tend to save my longer ones until I finish my shorter comments first, but you seem quite interesting! Anywho I tend to post more during school holidays with this competition coming up so I probably would end up swamping you if I'm not careful

I got plenty of refs from RWaM ( Room With a Moose ) website of all the characters pretty much and a few screen shot references of the house of Zim's. I was aiming for a little below kind of view sorta.
Yesss the height kills me lol. It may take me time to adjust that, I'm used to Sonic proportions so when it comes to IZ my brain goes kapoof in confusion. XD
What exactly is the height about two heads or one ratio maybe? If I can know that I can at least border myself because I generally use Sonic proportions ( 3 to 4 heads tall ) because.. I'm trying to merge out of it since 8 years of drawing it. |D
I could just cheat and shrink the body of him lol. but yeah he's too tall I noticed that myself.. I like drawing long legs and the longer torso too, and that's what I may have made him rather.. tall. I gotta learn to manage that better.
I have refs of him to make sure, it just when it comes to getting the size and shapes it gets me. And yes I'm used to very difficult hand gestures I'm not so used of the simple pointy like fingers he has, I'm so used to human fingers haa. |D And I'm not so much on the bendy arms part either even though Sonic style has it I never really could pull it off right. And still can't. |D The pointy feet I know of but I lagged on making it look right, ( and by the time I got to his feet I got lazy, that laziness always gets me ) I should try to fix that sometime. His eyes did seemed weird to me, figures that I made them too small. XD
I will try to fix these errors before finishing the final drawing. Thank for the help I really appreciate it. <3
And yeah it's good to give crits you don't see it too often and it does help even though it points out mistakes but it's for the better. <3

Ooh, that's very good! I keep assuming people aren't looking at refs because I know I never looked at refs until it was on TV.. not everyone is mindless like me though so I should get that! XD
That's totally understandable! My original Zim's where really tall too actually, I'd rather not fish them out from the backwash of my gallery, but you get what I mean xD I just learned to get him better once people told me what the hell I was doing that kept him looking funny.
You know, I'm not so sure! It's closer to 1:1, the head the same as the body, but the body is a bit bigger I think. I'll have to find that out for myself
But I wouldn't blame you for drawing him taller XD A lot of my fan art of him is in this style where everyone is a tall and lanky stick-figure; it's just fun!
Yeah, I took a look through your gallery, and I can see how and where the style kicked in! You do the Sonic style excellently, and with that it carried onto IZ.

I'm the type of person who wants it perfect. Perfectionist. lol
I study basically every emotion and and I study and study till I get it right. I notice things other people don't seem to notice. In IZ I don't see many errors but I have seen a few that other probably never seen lol. I see line art blotches and such and sometimes something that's missing. And then subliminal messages. lol
Yeah I have a thing where it's like the legs are longer than they should be lol. I have that issue with my main character now, she's supposed to be 3' 1" but she looks taller than that because of how I draw her lol.
Height has always been an issue for me. |D

I'll just draw his head first then using the size of his head I'll draw a line where his feet shouldn't go any further. That usually works. Well for keeping the sizes right. It might be hard to restrict myself.. |D
Yeah I need to merge out of Sonic, I gotta move on to harder and different things. And IZ and hard because the completely different head shapes and proportions and such. I'm so used to circular heads and not triangular or rounded squares. |D So for that part that's why I have trouble drawing it. |D
Recently with Sonic though I have issues drawing the heads now and I'm running out of ideas for any new drawings lol. Plus I gotta try other things. Since I want to be a varied artist and such. And I always prefer cartoons more than anything else. Or realism. But cartoons like IZ are always my favorite lol. Or KP ( Kim Possible, an old childhood cartoon and Kim was my idol lol )
I don't take it as an offense I take it as a note to try to do better next time, I never really get discouraged really, unless it's me who's criticizing myself because when I criticize myself I'm always harsh on myself. xD I do that to get me motivated in a way. And if people say the same thing about the error I feel more confident to try to fix it knowing that it is an error to be fixed.
Okayy then. I'll just be doing some doodles trying to practice Zim and his expressions to try and get the style more by that. Just to practice.. once I get unlazy to do so. XD

You mean like in the episodes themselves? XD Tell me about it, you'd think the animators get payed! I sometimes pick up errors where they draw him completely wrong, like they broke half the rules, I forgot what episode it was, one of the older ones
Oh well if you look around the IZ fandom, everyone has their own slightly different way of drawing Zim themselves, although it's the same general idea. It's extremely hard to get it 100%, because if you compare the old episodes to the newer, the style varies even there! I try to mimic the newer ones since I like that style more
That's so right! I used to be a Billy and Mandy enthusist, and it didn't get me far into improving until I tried IZ and other things. I think we're on the same line here xD
Haha, you know, I also take it as a compliment too, when I think of it actually! It's like the person who critiques really cares for the artistic capabilities of the other, and has faith enough that they'll get there. I'm going to have to remember that next time I get one

Yeah, I have all the episodes on my iPod and I can view them on my laptop and I find like all kinds of thing lol! Remember Voting of the Doomed? Well the part of the "Awkward silence part of the debate" they had forgotten that Zim wasn't wearing his lenses. XD And it was odd cause everything was silent and Zim had no lenses on.. in front of the whole school. XD ANd then the next scenes he did have them on. XD
I'm not sure but it seems that was by accident. XD
Of course everyone will have a different style it's rather the same with Sonic too, there's many styles of it I've seen and soon I'll see more from IZ which will be fun to see since I'm so used to one style and it'll be cool to see others style of IZ. And yeah I try to mimic the new ones because that's the current ZIM who knows Zim coulda just gotten a lil older for all we know but for the most part it's cause they had a change in style lol. I like the newer style better though too.
Yeah the more you try the better you get however, juggling bunches of styles always gets you confused but it helps you develop your own style when doing so. And helps you learn some new things you can try and twist around to make it your own style in some way. I started with Pokemon for 1 year then Sonic for 8 years but within a 3 year range of those 8 years I started to try and make my own style in some way, It started Sonic then a year later I tried to go more and more out of the style I went through many changes of styles, and I still am, sometimes I can't decide on how to draw something. XD And most of the cartoons I drew had circle heads. And all of the sudden I start IZ and I'm like 'wut?' So this is going to help me in drawing squares a bit better, and the backgrounds of the show are inspiring too, and I gotta work on backgrounds sometime.. xD It's helping me learn backgrounds better. XD

Yes that's like it or to improve on something or maybe help note ideas in the future when doing something similar. It helps me to know that so I don't do it again. XD
Doodles are always good for style concepts and such and to get rid of boredom lol. I don't usually draw in books i just find copy paper and draw on it. XD It's the medium I use for every traditional drawing I do, I like how cheap it is and I'm used to the texture and such. XD
I watch too many. XD I just went through most of the ones I don't want to watch anymore recently which was a lot. XD
There's plenty of Sonic artists out there many way better than me, but many are in the anime genre but every style is good as long as it's their own. <3

Understandable! I've heard a story similar to this, but it was rather the other way round I think! It was an IZ fan transitioning into an anime, don't remember which, but she tended to keep those dramatic angles she had wit her IZ drawings. Thing is, her drawings still looked great, and had that kick-ass edge to them, which made me like it even more (I haven't seen her in a while, nor can I recall the anime right now, gah

Yeah that one. XD I didn't notice it till later on and then I'm like.. "heyy wait a minute.. he's not wearing his lenses! XD" And the awkward silence just made me wonder why it was quiet in the first place. XD
But the director, Steve, said it was an accident and he's surprised that he didn't even notice it. XD But it still makes you wonder if it was on purpose or not. XD
Yeah I noticed that throughout the series it kept changing, but in a good way, and it seemed that Zim was getting only slightly older as it went on. XD ( I never got the change no, but I heard of it yes, it was food fight between Dib and Zim right? D: )
Yeah I have transitioned so many times I think I got confused by now. I have so many styles I draw, some days I don't know what style to draw. XD I have Sonic Style, My style, Anthro, Cartoony ( less humaniod like ), realism and now I'm drawing IZ and I hardly draw human like but I gotta start doing more cause of college work and stuff. XD
Yeah it always depends. XD Most of the ones I get are useful but they don't always suggest what to do but getting an idea of what might be wrong is better than not getting anything at all. Usually I just remember it and if I can I go try and reference it. Like one issue I have with hands.. thumb placement. I tend to forget where to put the thumb and sometimes it's on the opposite side. XD But some of my watchers do try to help and I get help from random bystanders too which is pretty cool. Kinda lik you did. It's fun to meet new people. <3
I use a lot of paper I'm so guilty of that, however I do use both sides when I'm not going to ink the picture, to save paper and to make it less of a hassle, because if you've seen how much I got you'd wonder how I carry all that paper around in school all day. It's probably nearly one inch or more in thickness! XD Most not done or scanned sue to laziness. XD
I do use a tablet but I still prefer traditional for things like sketching and color pencil works, and it's the easiest medium for me since I like to do things without getting lazy and when doing traditional work you can't get lazy as there is no undo button on that. XD I got an Intous 4 just got it with a corel painter but I have to wait till my desktop gets cleaned to be able to use it so for now I just use my laptop which is a 2007 but still works only is laggy and has very little memory. ( I have 3 USB drives I draw so much, I need a new one again because I only got 1 GB of memory left on my current one. And it's a 16 GB. XD )
Yes, very similar in fact I know several Sonic artists that like Zim too as I found out in my drawings of Zim and such recently too, it's just not all draw it exactly. Well that's all I know they could have drawn it but not like they draw Sonic anyhow. |D I had been actually watching 1000+ but after a a year I realized I didn't need to watch that many. I just watched people and forgot. Then it goes 500+ and I still had too many. Now it's 240 or so maybe And I'm still going through it and getting rid of Sonic artists that don't interest me anymore. ( as well as banned people or people who left ) I add lot's of people to my watch list, I just have issues saying things sometimes. Maybe because most are Sonic and for Sonic stuff I don't know what to say anymore. XD And school School kills me. XD And yes I am busy but not really much really. In school work yes but here the only thing I'm busy with is commenting on art, but that's always been an issue. I should just clear it out again and start over. XD Cause I think I got 700+ art to go through, and I'm pretty darn sure I can't comment on all that within a year. XD Some I haven't gotten the time to get rid of one I don't want to see too. XD
I usually try to answer messages in order they are given but some times I answer the longer ones first, don't know why but I guess to break the "thanks" train that makes me sound like a broken record. XD

Seriously?! XD NO WAY! Accident.. well that I suppose COULD happen. I still think it would be something put by purpose by the colourist's or animators, I dunno xD It seems reasonable it was an accident though. Where did he say that anyway?
Yeah, he becomes less naive and, I suppose, gives an air of more maturity later on. Irkens are slow agers, so I think that's why the change was so slightly evident.
Oh yes, broaden yourself! As much as it's kickass to draw the same way as a cartoon does, having your own style developed is really helpful if you want to go further with your art. For me, just drawing IZ all the time is a sorta dead end if I just draw IZ, because the show doesn't need animators or concept artists who can draw the style, since it's a dead show anyway =\ It's more out of interest to be drawing it. Developing your own styles for things can get you into further careers, if you so choose that career path. People who hire artists tend to tip more to those with a creative new edge to things. That's how our favourite cartoon shows come to existence in the first place XD

Heya, it was my pleasure! My friend actually wanted to give you a critique but she wasn't very up to it so she directed to me to you so I took the time for her. I'm very glad I did though, with most of my critiques, I give one, they thank me (or freak out!), and I go off my merry way. This however turned out a lot differently!
Aye-aye, you're an artistic machine! So you're a traditionalist too? Me.. no, not really XD Be glad you're a jack for both trades, I'll have to catch up on you with that ;D I feel I do solidly with digital, pencil work, not so much. Talk about laggy computers though! When you solely do digital works, that's when you feel the burn! Particularly when the harddrive overloads
But gee.. 16 GBs! Do you keep copies of all your pictures as spares or whatnot? I find just uploading them to two different Image hosts besides dA is the best thing, because I too, have 3 USB's. One of them is devoted to school but it's half full of stuff drawn anyway. I've learned to just replace my old drawings with my new however. It's hard to let go of them, but sometimes it's just got to be done!
Oh, me too! I know Fire-Bird9 and Sonicbandicoot but they're the only two I can name who draw both for the same amount each
Aww, right now I have 200 deviations to comment on, I know I can't comment on each of them but what I do, with the stacking system now is comment on one of each artist's work, then deleting the rest. It saves time (:
