    "Watch your zone!"

[Gunfire]

    "They're all around us!"

[Increasing gunfire / screams of pain can be heard]

    "What do we do!?"

    "Maintain positions, marines!"

[More gunfire / screaming / unidentified sounds]

    "They're coming through the WALLS!!!"

[Transmission cuts out]

-Last Transmission from Squad Foxtrot of 5th Platoon, Narvaez Company, Triton Relief Force

The UES had it's first extraterrestrial encounter on 05.04.2215 ET, on the moon of Neptune, Triton. Initially fearing a massive pirate attack by remains of the Venus Independence Fleet (a criminal group of terrorists that refused to surrender after the ill-fated Venus Revolt), the UES sent an armed military transport, the UES Ryuho, with 250 Elite UES Marines onboard, led by veteran commander Pablo Narveaz, to secure and reestablish communications.

The Ryuho entered orbit around Triton, only to be struck by a rapidly forming debris field, forcing the ship to crash land. Once on the surface, Narvaez made short work in forging a path to the colony. No sign of any colonists or former military garrison could be found, and the lack of any organic matter was noted.

When inspecting the southern Atmospheric Generator, contact was made with the species designated "Megarachnid." Tough skinned, insectoid, burrowers, the Megarachnid are believed to be the reason for loss of communication with the colony. Narvaez and his men would then be forced to launch raids and efforts to restore off-moon communications, secure the crash site, and secure a means of being evaced, or to leave Triton on their own...

(The Megarachnid are the antagonists of a board game of my own creation, I call "Bug Hunt." A survival horror game, it is designed to be a tense balancing act of tactics, strategy, and luck; with most games being a mix of seizing objectives, and then escaping, before the "Bugs" can overwhelm you.

Inspired by my love of the movie Aliens, and games like Space Hulk, Dead Space, and Alien Swarm, "Bug Hunt" is an attempt to bring the tense horror of knowing that one mistake will doom you and your team. Built around 1vE Arcade combat, and 1v1/2v1 competative rulesets, and an as of yet unfinished campaign ruleset, I've received praise from family and friends who have played my cobbled together board game.

I hope you enjoy the art!)
