I may not be an expert artist for I have rarely shown them... but I would like to give out a critique into this painting. If it is no trouble, then I shall begin.
Vision: I see that comforting and serene feeling on the whole painting in composition and color temperature, and at the same time I find the girl tying her laces as she prepares for her recital as a subject matter to present an environment of activity and frenzy, they complement each other well.
Originality: Reminds me of Degas when it concerns ballet, though I may have little knowledge that is fresh. There stands nothing new about ballerinas during their recitals in their movements (but i digress; this is my first critique at this point in time). However I suppose preparation to a show is still fresh in subject matter, for the moments close to that of the performance are ephemeral, and to me very precious that I wish to capture it, that is in a way one connects to this girl for how she is feeling. This is a moment in which I can present empathy.
Technique: Among all the pieces of this astoundingly revolutionary technique, the colors translate well to one another in value, contrast, and hue. This is (if exists more than) one of pieces to show all warm colors. As for the strokes, the palette strokes are carefully applied like very fine mosaic; the strokes radiate and, many of them, complement each other in value.
Impact: I would say that this piece stand out to me in a what that serenity and pace, back and forth, play their role well in this action and convey an environment of a scholarly institution.
