I agree so much. Link is not a part of the Mario universe nor does he fit the silliness of racing. Don't get me wrong, if I play this game he will be my character of choice... every... single... time... but this feel like more of a cash grab than a decision for the game's sake.

The photos of mario,the mario enemies appearing in the link's awakening (you could blame it on the dreamscape though), the mario mask in Majora's mask and other easter eggs I forget. Also there are some LOZ easter eggs in mario as well.
