I've just places the first lava/obsidian block in my QR code wall. I've got a long way to go.

Using my brand new technique of placing a lava block and turn in into obsidian before it has the time to burn the wool beneath it, or even have to chance to spread some lava around. Just taking out one block of cobblestone, put one lava block, and get one obsidian block.
By placing a water block above the wanted spot of obsidian (can be put on the wall itself, doesn't have to be directly above the lava), and then placing the lava block, turns it immediately into obsidian, before it manages to flow or burn a thing.
Me- 1, Destructive lava- 0.
