Description Picture of a toy gun.

Edit:

Airsoft toys are catagorized as toys with the exception of a few states and other ones who are legistlating the laws to redefine Airsoft under the catagory of airguns. As an airgun, the blazing orange tip law actually does not apply, but the gun itself will be subjected to further restrictions.

So, in the rest of the US, the following guidelines apply:

Toy guns are required to have a blazing orange tip covering at least 1" of expose muzzle for transport on public roads, across state lines, as well as commercial sales.

Which means while on private properties, no orange tip is required.

Look-alike toy guns should never be played in a none-designated field.
Look-alike toy guns should never be brandished in public.
Look-alike toy guns should never be displayed in a location which is in view of the public, e.g. back yard, porch, or on a location where people can see through the windows.

Thanks!

Realism is exactly why I use them for references. When they're 1:1 scale, the kind of dynamic angles can be achieved is fantastic!

I know what you mean man, I have an HFC M16A2 springer under my bed and I'm almost afraid to take it outside. The thing is 1:1 scale, all the colors are perfect, and with a three foot tall chianlink fence being the only thing dividing you from your neighbors, I'm expecting to see the police at my door in minutes if I were to go outside.

Air-soft is growing quite popular over the years, isn't it? All I remember is the bleedin' welt (literally) that resulted of my fiendish attempts of bein' "bad-ass" and whimpering about the wound days later. >.> <.<

Still, thanks for sharin'! Guns are good. <3 <3 <3

I make a point to wear at least something over my body to protect it against the rare illegally hot gun.

ahh, G3 series AEGs are always lovely, I've been looking fondly at an SG-1 as my next large purchase, but I might just have to get an SR-16 for the sake of a .50 Beowulf customisation project I've wanted to do and for the sake of interchangable mags with the rest of my team..
..We really gotta get some more airsoft awareness here in DA.

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

maruta In reply to maruta [2004-06-29 18:10:22 +0000 UTC]

I think the optics might cost more than the AEG itself, since there are no current replicas of the Mangonel iron sights and since EOTech Holo sights are a bit high priced for my budget..
But seriously, if I had a decent digital camera and enough accessories, I'd be putting up photos all the time.

lhs In reply to zoomzoom [2004-06-28 16:50:36 +0000 UTC]

That's why I choose them as my prefered form of firearm reference.

These toys are generally 1:1 scale.

With a combination of what details that can be found on the web and firearm manufacturers' gallery shots, these are some of the best references for epople who draws a lot of fireamrs.

This one has metal accessories, But the body remains plastic.

Depending on which site you check, the stock model are sold for about $200-$250.

wow O.O it really does look like a gun doesnt it *shudders* I dont think toy guns should be sold at all. give the little buggers plastic swords or lightsabers or something like that. . . not guns x.x (by the way I havent forgotten the trade! lol I'm having a heck of a time with one of his hands, but I am so proud of the turnout so far )

lhs In reply to Kata [2004-06-28 17:02:44 +0000 UTC]

Thanks for the update Don't strain yourself on our trade. I had to slow down because of work, once again, Slowly but surely.

As far as realistic toys, I know what you mean. There are more and more incidents of replica arms being misused. it will only get worse.

I wouldn't worry about high end rifles like this one. You have to watch out for cheap low end pistols that look similar to the real firearms! Those are the ones making the head lines. News like kids busted in parks and schools. Liqour stor hold ups using a model gun.

The only thing keeping toys like mine out of childrens' hands is their price tag. The good looking ones tend to be more expensive. The cheaper ones, unfortunately, looks almost as good to the untrained eye...

The toy itself retails for around $220. A whole lot of money for a not very useful toy.

I wouldn't recommend this hobby to anyone. Hell, I can barely support this hobby. Never the less, they make great tools for survival games and killer visual references!
