Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Bal Dat the Striped Bandit and his Bandit Moogle

I’m making character customs from video game Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles because I’m forever obsessed with the art and the music from this game. And when I first played the game almost 20 years ago when it first came out, I about had a crush on the entire selkie clan lol. Especially Bal Dat the goofy bandit that kept trying to rob your caravan and when he finally was successful he made off with… striped apple and rainbow grapes. Stuff like that. So in other words he was eye candy and really had no point in the game. But that’s enough for me! It’s especially endearing when you get the option to punt his little moogle bandit companion into the sky.

Pony base used was a Pony Life 8 inch tall figure. Coated it in white gesso primer then gave him a full body repaint job in flesh tone acrylics. Eyes painted true to character, with a touch of my own style. Some markings painted on his front legs, all paint work sealed in Testors spray sealant.

Mane and tail are rooted in Shimmerlocks nylon hairs in colors peach sorbet, passion and carrot cake. All hair is permanently styled in hair gel method.

His outfit is heavily detailed and complicated. Can I leave it at that? xD
Of course not! He has purple/gray striped pants you can barely see that are hand stitched from ribbons. He has painted and hand stitched leather details, faux fur with orange painted tips, some metal, bone and plastic bead detailed accessories. His purple striped bandit scarf is purple fabric with ribbon stripes painted, stitched and glued on. He looked like he had a crystal shard in his hair in the pic so I added a blue crystal with gold wire wrapped around it with an abalone shell shard to embellish.

His striped moogle companion is crafted from a gen 3 breezie, coated in white gesso primer than given a full body repaint job in pale gray acrylics. Face and ears painted true to character, all paint work sealed in Testors spray sealant. Moogle pom pom is a red bead fastened to black wire, he has painted leather wings, faux fur body and mane detailing with purple painted striped on the body fur.
