Description I mixed two renders, an UF fractal and an Apophysis flame, and framed it in PS.

Full view definitely recommended!

Very nice! Although I do admit, I was expecting a three pointed design like the car in the movie

Oh yes, you mean the Flux Capacitor, don't you?

I can't imagine that you mean anything else with "three pointed design". Wait, I have to watch the movie(s) again right now!!! They're still belonging to my favourites! Maybe therefore I chose the title.

Yes the Flux Capacitor! I just could not remember what it was called!

Flux Capacitor!

Alone this word creation is so killingly funny! I can understand why you couldn't remember the name! But I am sorry, it is burnt in my head!

how do you get an apophysis flame to have a transparent or other image for a background? did you meticulously select the flame? or is there an easier way?
this is realy beautiful by the way!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Lilyas In reply to Deborah-Valentine [2005-07-10 12:42:09 +0000 UTC]

I didn't have to select the flame laborius by hand, there is an easier way indeed. PS has a suitable tool for that. This tool works best when the object has clear borders and my flame was perfect for that. Therefore it was easy to remove the black background of the Apo flame and get an transparent object.

did you use the extract filter?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Lilyas In reply to Deborah-Valentine [2005-07-10 20:06:56 +0000 UTC]

No, but you could do that, too. I don't know the name in English but the tool I used would I call the magic rubber.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Deborah-Valentine In reply to Lilyas [2005-07-12 16:09:34 +0000 UTC]

magic rubber???? that is somewhat comical. how does this tool work? extract you paint the edge with a mask that is red and fill in all the area inside as well. it seperates the pixels by contrast and color. click extract and it cuts off the edge you dont want.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Lilyas In reply to Deborah-Valentine [2005-07-12 17:20:46 +0000 UTC]

Well, I cannot explain very good how it works. I just klick in the area I want to cut and the tool will all pixels delete that have the same color as the chosen point. I also can adjust the tolerance so it also will cut similar colors. But your way sounds interesting, too. I think I have more possibilities to extract objects. I should try this!

sounds much better than my tool...i actually hate the extraction tool
