Description
Adobe Illustrator Artwork 12.0 ( CS2) - AI.aiUPDATE2:
My art is still used in many places but some of the "Hall of Shame" people have taken it down and I am removing all the links.
UPD:
I should have written this long ago.
I've uploaded this piece of work in it's ORIGINAL FORMAT because of one thing: people kept asking me how I work, kept asking me for a tutorial. I tried to make a tutorial once, but that wasn't clear enough I guess.
So I though I'd give away one work as an AI-file, so that everybody could see the layers etc. and see how everything works, maybe find what she/he was looking for in my works - I mean some "hidden" technique people've been asking me about.
One could have predicted that uploading a piece of work in it's original format gives too much freedom to those who tend to misuse other people's works.
At first it was funny to hear about this work being used for
* Poster for some musical festifal in Edinburgh
* Cover for CD with graduating students' works of one art school in Ukraine
* Logo of some art group in China
* Prints on T-shirts (I don't remember where - Mexico?)
and for many many other purposes in various corners of the world.
But the latest email wasn't funny any more - I've been told my work has won the 3rd place all over the country at an art Expo in Columbia.
Naturally, not under my name. I was the last to know, as usual.
One could say - "Your own fault". But I've explained the reasons why I've uploaded my work in AI-format.
The most unpleasant thing is - people trying to make not only money, but even name at the expense of other's work.
I've decided to collect the information about cases of misuse of my work and post it here, in the "Hall of shame".
I'd be greatful for any help - if somebody knows about cases of my work being stolen and misused and takes time to write me a notice, maybe even with a photo.
Hopefully, this will help. I promise to put here a small notice if somebody of the "reported" people contact me and clear up things.
Last but not least.
I don't really mind my tutorial being used, but you want to use it (naturally, not for displaying it on some art competitions under your name), please, write me a notice or an email. I'm slow at answering, but I'll try to answer it as soon as possible. And credit the artist please!
Everyone, thank you for your attention.
I'm really sorry for bringing this up and maybe, spoiling the atmosphere. But I hope everybody will understand me.
with regards and best wishes
LimKis

So sorry to hear that people have stolen this without crediting you. Makes me leery to post anything anywhere sometimes. :S But I greatly enjoyed viewing your gallery and your beautful pieces. You are very talented and your works are so colorful and eye catching. ;D I can't wait to see more of it.

I used you work in a Type assignment. I never put the assignment up online, but, after seeing this I figured you should know.

wow that hearing about your artwork being stolen must really hurt. I know. I'm not much of an artist but it happened to me once and i felt like my heart was being scratched. Seriously. It may sound cheesy but your artwork is yours alone and when someone uses it like that, it hurts too much. Its disgusting to think that people do stuff like this and feel no guilt. You artwork is amazing and for all the people that know its yours, we know youre the one thats amazing

Seriously, wow.
This really happened? I mean, I heard of people who found their art at Sheezyart or such, but receiving such a mail... and ... IΒ΄d think itΒ΄s supposed to be a joke! Art Expo in Columbia? How stupid does someone need to be to join such a big competition with a stolen artwork??
Amazing.. the audacity of the art theif as well as the artwork.

So bad people steal your work! D:< I would advise you to do not longer allow people to download the original file here! I just looked at your tutorial you did and where some people did not understand: For me it is clear β especially with all the comments under it. Maybe you just could add some sentences then it would be clearer. If a person do not understand afterwards it is not your fault β¦ I would really suggest you put this down β nobody should be able to use your amazing work as his/her own! Maybe it is too late, you think, but giving away original files is ALWAYS a problem βΒ I am sure there will be even more thieves using it if you keep it up like this. I just looked at the download rate: 13.968!!! It speaks for itself, sadly β¦ I hope nobody will steal your work any longer! You are such an amazing artist!!!

Amazing how you managed to pull this off in Illustrator, it's simply stunning. However, it is also sad to see that so many people take advantage of your good intentions and don't give you the credit you so much deserve. I'm glad you're not giving up though!

I'm sorry this happened to you. And it sucks! I understand how you must have felt when you found out someone else is taking credit and getting paid for what they actually stole. I will find time to blog about this. I will try. Nobody wants to see their works stolen like that. Word will come out.
I admire your work so much and how you take time and love to put it out all here.
Please keep it up.

Thank you for your help.
You're right, I misspelled the place's name, it's Colombia.
Unfortunately I don't speak any Spanish, so I can only judge only from what I've been told.
But it really seems it was some event at a university.
As for the link - he's deleted his account on Facebook, I guess. But he sent me a message on Facebook and apologized.

I love your work and it's just sad what kind of things people come up with once they're given the chance to. The world just doesn't deserve being met with trust and friendliness anymore. Truly a shame.

I hope you notify the people who are using it that the work is stolen...perhaps you could embed your name within the artwork in an invisibly color/layer.

a heavy grasp of anatomy and seemingly vast knowledge of how to use Adobe illustrator. I ask myself, what is it that you cannot translate on paper or photoshop? You're an admirable artist Limkis.
