Description
Color version. Sadly Katara got the least amount of love in this colored version. My pinkie really starts to kill after an hour or two when I use this wacky wacom.I've started thinking about what would happen to Azula after the war was over.
Here we have Aang spirit-bending and Katara using advanced healing abilities to heal Azula's mind. Having spent years in recuperation and rehabilitation she has reached a point where she is not powerful enough to progress on her own.
Back row:
Ty Lee--Hurried from the field on assignment. Yes her braid is gone, her hair is up because that's what married ladies do yo yo yo.
Zuko--Concerned for his sister, dubious about the process. Worrywort Lord.
Mai--Thinking about the prospect of bringing Azula home with little Lu Ten due any time now.
Toph--Listening with earth-bending to Azula's heartbeat and breathing, making sure everything stays copacetic.
Suki--Trying to bring Sokka around to the idea of even trying to help Azula.
Sokka--Grudge holder. Dubious about the prudence of the whole affair. Lame Sokka, lame.

Yeah I faltered a little when choosing the color pallet for her. I don't think she can stay in black and red for the rest of her life so I figure dark colors for now until...well I don't know when.

Thank you so much. I'm just starting to work with colors and it's nice to see the work is digestible.

What I find most interesting and cool is how you shape and draw the character's forms, especially the guys in the back. It gives the picture a sense of pictorial space, compared to if it was just Katara, Aang and Azula.

The shapes and original forms of the pencil drawing are always what I fear will get lost in the colored versions. There's a certain amount of perceived depth in an unshaded, uncolored pencil drawing that just gets filled in by imagination, but when you color, you determine and if you screw it up it just looks flat.

That's true, I have to watch my forms once I start coloring them.
What helps with me is that, When I put the line art layer on multiply and put color on another layer underneath in Photoshop, I can still retain the same form.
Plus you can add another facet of form and shape through color. And once everything is colored, it helps to unify the color through another layer of overlay, or tone all the colors down according the atmosphere of where your picture takes place, so they're not too bright. :3
Hope that helps.

Oh man I feel like such a dork, I just learned about multiply like three weeks ago! That's why I've been coloring so much because it's TONS easier when I can keep the lines on top. When I was painting over the top it all just ended up looking like dirty peanut butter.
I understand the idea of an overlay but have never tried it...yes...I shall experiment. Thanks for the advice and feedback.

No problem!
I still need to practice as well. All the stuff I learned, was from other people I admired here. I'd gape with my mouth open at their painterly beautifully colored photoshop work and when I tried to do the same thing,
it'd end up like...lol dirty peanut butter.
There are so many different ways to color and whatever is most comfortable for you is great, as long as we keep improving and trying out different things!

Absolutely, I browse DA just to learn from other people. That's how I found your stuff. MAN! If only I had more time to draw!

Yeah, but then again he came around to Zuko faster than the others, he's a practical man and I figure he'd eventually come around to this. Especially when he gets his first knitted cap! Oh man, it get's COLD in the South Pole.

Thank you, Azula just needed someone more powerful than her to love her. Lots of people cared about her but they couldn't beat her up, sometimes crazily strong people need to forced to see that others love and care about them. Not that the picture depicts them forcing her, but she would never have come around to the idea of having them help her if they hadn't refused to stop trying to get through to her. After a year or so in the Healing Rooms she started to open up.

I agree Azula would need the help. I always liked the idea of them helping her lead a normal life. More than the idea of locking her up and leaving her there.
