Description I had this design in my mind for a while, after watching the underrated masterpiece that is Megamind, but I think he would fit well in the universe of My hero academia. Despite not being a big anime or manga guy, I really enjoy both the show and the “comics”, and the character and their growth throughout the story, are probably its best part, however I have a problem with the two main villains, as AFO is pretty generic and Shigaraki, isn’t as interesting, despite his backstory being quite interesting, though the secondary antagonists like Dabi, Twice or Toga are far more engaging. The universe also doesn’t really explore the struggles of that 20% without powers, after the first few chapters and episodes. So I wanted to incorporate this design in these two minor and probably nitpicky complains I have about this universe.

Premise

He would become the main antagonist after the events of the canon story, through the course of the remaining years of school that Deku and his class had to pass to become better heroes. He will also try to rebuild the league of villains, but the members changed numerous times as he just picked the first 5 crooks that he found. He was never captured however and he continued to plot ways to attack his arch-nemesis. He will eventually find actually competent candidates for his league and proceeded to reenact the attack at the USG that the first league tried years before, although this time Deku and his classmates were in the fourth year of high school, so he just picked upon the new 1 A. Thankfully our heroes defeated the new league with limited damages, but Fright and his goons continued to be a thorn in Deku’s side until his graduation party.

First possible appearance

A few week after Deku returned to UA after defeating AFO as some sort of celebrity, all pro heroes and students received an email containing a different riddle for each person. Deku and his classmates received the message as well and tried to get to the bottom of it. Solving the riddle would reveal a location where the unfortunate heroes were attacked by groups of robots that would beat them up until they became unconscious and left there. Those who defeated the horde, would have received another riddle. After this event, Deku suspected this mysterious game master to be one of AFO remaining followers. This belief got strengthen by the fact that the second riddles would send the heroes to one of AFO’s former secret strongholds were multiple villains would have gathered.

After defeating the villains, Deku received a final riddle which was the same for everyone that passed this final test. Believing this to be a trap, the remaining heroes reunited and Endeavor told the others to follow him from afar as him Deku and Hawks would investigate. The riddle brought them to a giant empty warehouse, completely voided of light, with only a candle lighting it’s center where a civilian tied to a chair was held hostage, but there was no sign of the kidnapper. They were able to reach the victim, but Deku felt like something was watching him in the dark. Suddenly, while he was taking the civilian to safety, a giant robot attacked him from the dark, his danger sense was the only thing that kept him alive during this encounter as the machine seemed to be completely silent despite its considerable size.

When they finally got out, the robot followed them outside, and a voice started speaking from within it, confirming himself to be the one responsible for sending the riddles. The villain also revealed that he wasn’t working for AFO, but he organized this game to find a proper arch nemesis to face his “superior intellect”. At this point all the heroes came out of their covers to attack the machine, but the robot was able to keep up even with pro heroes like Hawk and Endeavor. During the ensuing battle, the villain spoke with a bombastic and over the top tone, while spewing puns and cheesy one liners. It felt like he either didn’t understand the gravity of what he was doing or he just didn’t care about it.

Deku was the one who dealt the finishing blow to the cursed machine and got inside the cockpit, discovering that the robot was controlled remotely, and on the control panel there was a note that said: “ Hola! If you’re the first person to read this, congratulations! You have gained the honor of being my arch nemesis, Hurray! Don’t worry we’ll see each other very soon, from F.”

This note deeply unsettled Deku for the past weeks, until this mysterious “F.” Finally showed up on a giant black cloud hovering over UA. Introducing himself as “Fright”, the villain, who looked to be slightly older than Deku, threatened to crush the school and all the people inside it with his cloud. With the help of the support class, who discovered that the cloud was made of nano-machines, and the hero 13, Deku was able to defeat the villain.

His suit however was pretty strange, being clearly homemade while incorporating some impressive technology, like a pair of gauntlets that let him shoot lighting a pair of boots that granted him the ability to float and a chest plate that lets him phase through things.

Origins and motives

Fright never aimed to crush our hero, he just wants to make the ultimate show, as proved by the puns, one liners and evil speeches he writes in preparation for his encounter with our green haired hero. It was later revealed that, much like Deku, Fright was bullied and humiliated for not having a quirk, and much like his arch-nemesis he wanted to be a hero as well and seeing people smiling, but he had a twisted idea of what a hero actually was, as for him they were just some sort of performers. He always tried to win his piers’ affection inventing weird machines that usually caused safety hazards. Then at the age of 17 he asked himself: “ If I can’t be a hero, perhaps I could become a villain instead, two sides of the same coins right?”. And so he did, creating a suit and stealing a few prototypes, he then hijacked a cargo plane making it his mobile base of operations. Before going to Japan to face the greatest hero of all times: All Might and proving that he was the greatest villain to ever exist, he took revenge on his former classmates and based his name after their terrified face before he electrocuted them. Unfortunately during all of this work, he didn’t have time to keep up with the news and later discovered that All Might had already retired for quite sometime, so he began developing his plan to find a new archenemy, and this time he make sure to keep up with the news.

Fright’s demise

The End of Fright

Fright would met his demise when crushing Deku’s graduation party alongside his league. The hero will damage Fright’s helmet, making him lose control over his equipment during an fight in the air. Deku tried to save him, but the young villain inevitably fell to his death. Mangled beyond recognition, it was impossible to confirm Fright’s identity, also due to the fact that he had seemingly burnt his fingerprints. His new league of villains was arrested and the people started to remember him as the second AFO due to the grand scale of his schemes, but Deku knew the truth: Fright was just a nerdy kid that wasn’t able to find his place in a world that treated him badly just because of who he was. His death however will have serious consequences later in the hero’s life.
