Description This is the other boss mentioned in Sigmund’s bio. Just for Sig and Frida I’m going to describe the Area, the boss room the boss fight and the bare minimum lore. As Sigmund said, one of the 7 moonlight knights was tasked with protecting the survivors of “the change” inside of the clockwork fortress: a giant building where numerous scientists and sorcerers gathered in their researches, or at least it used to be. In this area the player is introduced to an essential item: the grappling hook, which will help in traversing the fortress and in taking down some annoying enemies. Another important mechanic are the clockwork hamsters which will unlock new passages, similarly to the Pharros stones of dark souls 2. Most enemies use electric attacks, but the more the Rotten one gets deeper in the fortress the enemies will use more darkness attacks.
This will make you realize that the fortress wasn’t as safe as everyone thought. The knight tasked with protecting this place was Kind hearted Gullivan, the fifth of the seven moonlight knights, now renamed the last bastion. Gullivan was created in the fortress after numerous failed experiments, he was supposed to be the ultimate weapon, but it turned out to have a kind and caring nature. The researches wanted to get rid of him as one of the many failures, but the King insisted that he should have become one of his best knights. From then on Gullivan became a loyal servant of the king and protected the kingdom for several years, rarely using violence to solve a conflict. When “the change” spread he rescued 2000 people from the city and transported them to the fortress. Along the researchers there were 2500 people in the building, but despite Gullivan’s efforts the change spread across the survivors, forcing him to kill every infected before they were changed completely. This was eventually to much for the iron giant’s kind heart and after everyone was turned he went insane with guilt, blaming himself for the fate of the survivors. While traversing the fortress the cries of Gullivan echoes throughout the structures. After reaching the top floor, the player enters a large empty room with a door on the opposite side, and in front of it there’s Gullivan, crying while cradling what’s left of a child, which almost immediately turns to dust. He’s still covered in fresh blood during this scene, after that he enters a frenzy and charge the player. In order to damage him you need to use the grapple hook on the top of his head when he’s overcharged, after that you can finally hurt the core on his chest. During the fight, Gullivan can jump around the room creating lighting shockwaves, creating lighting beams from his eye, use his maze to hit at close range or use a grab attack. In his second fase Gullivan can also use his maze as a catalyst to throw lighting and make holes in the floor that persist throughout the fight. Once you put him out of his misery you discovered that his efforts weren’t for nothing as one researcher was able to survive the change. But the real danger of the fortress lies deep beneath it.
