Description This is an Improved version of a very old deviation, which introduced a continuation of the Avatar universe and its main antagonist.
I hypothesized that the world that we see in the legend of Korra and in the last Airbender are only the Eastern Hemisphere of a much larger word.
The old deviation will be remove soon later.

The two hemispheres never knew of each other’s existence as they have been separated even before the first Avatar was created to defeat Vaatu.
The Western Hemisphere has a much more medieval influence than the eastern, and has 4 different types of bending: Lighting, Light, Spirit and Sound ( all of these bendings are explained in another entry).
The Light nation is a totalitarian monarchy were light benders are above the rest of society, whom live in miserable condition, with the exception of some lucky few who manage to get rich by trading with the other nations.
The Sound nation is a pacifist republic, where the quality of life is surprisingly high, however there are violent persecution towards blind and deaf people whom cannot appreciate the greatness of art.
They are also extremely irascible towards however isn’t “cultured” enough to understand art.
The Spirit nation is a federation of independent cities, where people are extremely focused on research and environmental preservation.
This is also where a portal to the spirit world is situated, which has been active for a really long time.
The fact that the portal to has remained open for so long however has brought into the West, horrible creatures called “Horrors”.
Many researchers of the spirit nation are trying to understand the presence of these beings, as they doesn’t appear to be spiritual in nature, while the Light nation is constantly trying to eradicate them.
Finally there’s the Lightning nation, a liberal monarchy where the laws are extremely strict for all of its citizens, may them be a peasant or a noble.
And it is exactly here that the main villain appears: Astulfur Geronimo Gulbard, heir to the sinister and influential house Gulbard, known for having risen to the top of society despite not having any bender in their family.
Since the Lìonark dynasty has made the monarchy liberal, many nobles have started plotting against the king, the Gulbards however never cared much about petty privileges as their main goal was always the crown, and Astulfur was no different than his predecessors.
Using the nobles hostility towards the royal house to his advantage, he faked numerous plots to frame various adversaries, this plot brought him closer to the young newly proclaimed king, who due to his age didn’t had any heir.
Even after becoming royal advisor, his overwhelming ego and insatiable ambition weren’t satisfied, and he started to organize a plot to take the throne, unfortunately, as he was about to execute his plan, the king managed to foil his plan and he was condemned for treason.
The penalty for such crimes was brutal, the culprit was forced to wear an helmet which shamelessly resembled a crown, their hands where then cut, and they would be sent to jail with a public procession.
An urban legend said that during the amputation Astulfur didn’t even flinched, and during the procession he stared at the crowd with a gaze full of pride and disgust.
Despite such a clamorous departure from the political scene, Astulfur was still a man and his stay in the capital’s prison eventually got a toll on his mental health, becoming violently unstable.
One day however he managed to escape prison by picking the lock with a spike that he broke off his mask.
After he escaped prison and forcing a blacksmith into making him prosthetic hands, he became some sort of boogeyman for the people of the Western Hemisphere.
He then vow to not remove his mask until he fulfilled his revenge.
After many failed to overthrow various governments, he stumbled upon an ancient ruin as he was having a psychotic attack.
In the ruin he stood before an ancient vault that seemed to have been used to seal something…. something powerful.
Suddenly a voice spoke to him, presenting itself as “The Beholder” he promised Astulfur unimaginable power, if he did something for it in return: kill the one they call “The Avatar”.
Astulfur gladly accepted the offer and the Beholder offered him to be become his mentor in the forbidden and forgotten art of Dark Bending.
The Beholder is an ambiguous figure, it’s Astulfur most powerful ally, but he sometimes speaks through Horrors known as “Oracles” to aid the Avatar and their group.
Its goals are never clear and most of the time it’s extremely cryptic in its speech.
While Astulfur started learning Dark bending and assembling an army out of criminals, fanatics and abominations, Korra was currently in the spirit world with Asami.
After many years, Astulfur was finally ready to reach the Eastern Hemisphere, and attack Republic city where he knew he’ll find the Avatar.
Naturally the Beholder also explained to him that in order to kill the Avatar once and for all, he should first activate her Avatar state, and what better way there was to do so than to raise her beloved city to the ground.
During the attack many people tried to escape to the spirit world, but alas the portals suddenly closed and the nature around it started to rot.
Eventually Korra came when it was already too late and many people close to her had already perished.
Even if extremely trained and in her Avatar state, Korra seemed to be no match for Astulfur’s dark bending, which got even stronger as the sun dawned, and eventually she was overwhelmed, however she managed to snap out of the Avatar State just in time, so that a new Avatar would’ve been born.
And now a power hungry lunatic controlling a vast army is ravaging the Eastern Hemisphere in search of the Avatar.
Fortunately the Western Hemisphere realized something was wrong after many expedition to discover more about that recently found part of the world, mysteriously disappeared after leaving one final message: “find the Avatar”
