Description So as I said in my first Avatar entry, ( www.deviantart.com/logbot03/ar… ), the main villains have put together an impressive army of mercenaries, bandits and even monsters, in order to siege Republic city and kill Korra. In this entry I will explain the primary forces of the invading army’s.
Your probably wondering what kind of grotesque creature is the guy on the far left, whose head is represented above, well that’s a camouflager, the main stealth unit of the invading army. These beings aren’t humans, but they can act similarly, although they have the incredible ability of morphing into the person that has last saw their face. They cover their deformed head to prevent constantly shifting form and because, they are quite shy beings, that only act tough when they’re in a large group, otherwise they are quite cowardly during combat. They’re ability made them incredible assassins in the Western Hemisphere of the Avatar universe. It’s believed that they were the product of human and spirits fusing together and never separating( like what we see in the story of Uan in the legend of Korra), but it’s probably related to the mysterious entity known as “The Beholder”.
Also on the left near the center there’s the main cannon fodder of the invading army: The husks.
Husks are undead soldiers that were either benders or non benders in real life, but whoever they were doesn’t metter anymore, since they are now just empty bodies with no souls with the same intelligence and will power of a potato.
This guys crumble to dust after a powerful bending attack or after two well placed hit. The non benders one aren’t that much of a problem to handle if you got even a branch to defend yourself, but the benders have retained their bending abilities, which makes them particularly dangerous when in large numbers. On the far right we have the foot soldiers, man and women that spent their life knee deep into crime even before Astulfur recruited them. They are equipped with different weapon, depending on their fighting style or bending abilities. They are well equipped and have surprisingly tough and light armor.
And last but not least, there’s the Undertakers. These brutes are a mystery Astulfur and The Beholder found them at the beginning of their recruiting campaign in an abandoned catacomb. The Beholder didn’t explain anything to Astulfur about their existence, maybe not even it knows where these things came from. They appear as huge male humans wearing black robes that cover their faces, but looking at their pale hands, you realize that there’s something deeply disturbing about them. They have no fingernails and their skin is unnaturally pale, but their face is still to be seen. They carry around a gravestone that they use as a weapon. The writing on the stone are impossible to translate as they’re too ancient. Nobody has ever faced an Undertaker and lived to tell the tale, if there’s an important task that needs to be carry out, than be sure that there be at least an undertaker around.
