Description
When I introduced the lore for the superhero group that I’ve drawn a while back, I talked about the presence of some monstrous beings that were causing mayhem, so here’s one of them: Mammon
For the design I was strongly inspired by greed from the Binding Of Isaac, but I also tried to include some aspects of Dante’s first book of the Divine Comedy: Hell, where the people condemned in Mammon circle ( the greedy and the prodigal) pushed huge rocks from one side from another of the vast field. Naturally I had to include some cat features, since Mammon’s is represented by cats, the M on the forehead was inspired by the myth of the Mammon cat. A black cat with a white M branded on its forehead that could bring bad or good luck.I also made his arms abnormally long because of allegory.

Abilities
Mammon’s deformed sack like body doesn’t get him very far, but he can still dig through the ground very fast, and is impervious to most type of attack, like bullets ore even explosives. He can spit melted gold from its mouth which he will later proceed to eat up, this might be related to its tendency in eating precious objects, especially gold. He can also summon cat like spirits. This little critters are a big threat in large number as they are far smarter than their summoner and can use various tools to their advantage, having small telekinetic powers, but they dissolve once hit. Mammon most dangerous weapon however is its tail, capable of turning organic matter into gold.

Possible weakness

Every single entity like this that has been recently defeated has a weakness, may it be an object, a place or a person. This creature will escape if fought for long enough, but it’s too dangerous to leave them alive, so finding the weakness is the main priority. Mammon’s weakness is believed to be a mythical treasure hidden in Sicily: Lu Bancu di Disisa.
The treasure was sealed underground when the Muslims invaded the island, and it’s believed that is located in a fraction of Monreale, where there once was the feud of Lord Disisa. To obtain the treasure however is necessary to fulfill a gruesome and difficult ritual, or else the spirit, which are identical to the ones summoned by Mammon will seal the intruder inside, or even worse he/she will come face to face with Mammon himself. To unfold the curse is necessary to find three people from the three corners of the island that are named “Santi Turrisi”, they will later need to disembowel a completely white cow and eat the interior raw. So yeah, it’s not exactly a walk in the park.

First encounter with the team

With the disappearance of the heroes, numerous terrorist groups started rising again, one of this groups, wanted to get their hands on an experimental virus. The team was tasked to destroy the virus and deal with the terrorist. Unfortunately the virus was in a government structure that contained also a lot of gold ingots, which immediately attracted Mammon. As it was turning into gold and consuming the terrorists, the Team arrived on the scene. Three of them were immune to the tail touch, so they kept the creature busy as the others run for the objective, unfortunately Mammon felt like they were trying to steal its gold and sent his minions after the others. The fight was exhausting and after destroying the virus the team was immediately teleported away as there was little they could have done. The terrorist weren’t a problem anymore as the surviving members thought it was a good idea stealing some gold to buy new arsenal, this of course brought the wrath of Mammon upon them.
