Description
I know, many people have complained about that 2020 New Warriors come back, and a lot of people redesigned those characters. To be perfectly honest I think Marvel have proposed worst designs in the past, personally I didn’t really like the idea behind those characters and, you know all the problems behind the twins. Fortunately the artist who worked on the designs: Luciano Vecchio, did not let himself down by the drama that surrounded the project and got back to work on something else, which I’m quite happy about, since I believe the guy is pretty talented, and you should check his devianart account. It’s not the first time I redesign a character which many disliked, like Hatemonger or Copperhead( not the DC villain), I always make this type of stuff because I see at least a spark of potential in these characters, I’m not a skill writer or a good artist, I’m just here to have fun and maybe improve a little. So since there wasn’t much information about the character I have quite the creative freedom here, and considering that I also tried to be as much loyal to the original design as possible, I’m going to mention the artist who made the original both out of respect and because I feel like he deserves credit for his work, so that people that do not know him could see the other work that he has done. So after this long, but necessary premise, here’s my version of Trailblazer( P.S the name is a synonym of pioneer, which I thought would be interesting).
Bio:
Johanna Lenda, was the only daughter of a single mother that lived in a small town near LA. She was one of the oldest kids in the community, and she always tried to look out for the other children as some sort of older sister. Unfortunately life was hard in town as the mayor constantly had to pay a “protection fee” to a local gang led by The Plant Man. Plant Man goons were always causing trouble in town, extorting money, trafficking drugs ecc. The disappearance of superheroes( I imagine this is set in the same universe as my version of Spider-Girl) made everyone lose hope, and Johanna was one of those people that have given up on heroes. Until one day, in the ruins of an old house she found a weird backpack, with glowing lines on it, and three holes on each side. There was no way to open it, but using a button on the back, revealed a electric socket. She decided to try to charge it, and once she put it on a swarm of nano bots burst out of the holes on the sides and started swirling around her, the more she panicked the more the nano bots moved faster destroying the structure. Fortunately she was able to calm down and think straight and discovered that she couldn’t control the swarm while wearing the backpack. After this discovery she decided to use her newfound powers to obtain the enough money to give to Plant Man to leave her town alone. So she went straight to Los Angeles trying to score a big hit on a bank, but once in front of the building, she realized she couldn’t do it. Not only she would commit a crime, but too many innocent people were going to be involved, and she would have become just like the gang that oppressed her. As soon as she was about to head back home however, a villain named Thrillchaser stormed in the bank and started taking hostages. At that point something clicked in Johanna’s mind she has seen these abuses so many time, but she hadn’t had the necessary strength to do anything, but now, she had her backpack. So she faced and defeated Thrillchaser and after looking at the face filled with relief of the hostages, she realized why the world needed heroes, and that now that the one that came before her were long gone, she had to forge a path for new heroes to follow. From that day, Johanna became Trailblazer.
