Description
Character Background:She is an ambassador of the Viera people of the Golmore jungle. The isolation of the Viera clans from the Hume world has resulted in a lack of information about the affairs of Ivalice. To this end, elders have sent her into the Hume cities to gather information about world affairs that could affect the forest.
However, there is another task she performs. Viera that have left the forest and found that they are not suited for the greater trials of Ivalice have no means to return home. In these cases, she acts as an mediator to help mend rifts between lost Viera and parent clans. This act of returning Viera blood to the heart of the Golmore jungle has earned her the name Vein by her people.
The Details:
My apologies for posting this in the digital drawings areas, but for whatever reason, the 3D gallery has no fan art section.
The character is based on DAZ's Aiko3 Model and takes advantage of her morph channels. Most of the armor is my first attempt at creating conforming figures for poser. The leg bracers, arm bracers, shoes, and ring decorations were modeled in 3DSMax. The feet and ears are heavily modified meshes. The ears came from BlackSmith 3D's Chucky Bucky character. Aiko was the donor for the foot mesh. The armor materials and ear textures are also custom creations. The PIBL code I wrote was used to create the lighting for the scene. The whole scene was rendered in Povray 3.6.

They are thinner in the game. This is just the style I made them.

I usually despise "art" created with those stupid 3D poser programs. But this one is really well done. She doesn't look like a rubber doll covered in x amount of filters. I'm actually going to Favorite it.
Bravo!

She really needs more hips...little more detail on the waist as women are very hippy...nice job though...not a fan of the feet at all...doesn't look like she'd walk very well...shoulders are too straight for a woman's figure...

I like how the wings on the neck turned out as well.
That was why I decided to carry them into the armor pieces.

well I'm impressed by three things.
The feet, the hands and the transparancey and flow of the cloth.
*sigh* if only I could pull this off

The feet.... *shiver* Thank god for the relax modifier in 3DSMax.
The transparency was something I worked up in Photoshop. I'm actually not as happy with this. Cloth simulations have almost become second nature to me. I think I probably should have done one here, but I just go to lazy.
The hands are just Aiko's hands with some mods. The nails were lengthened along with the finger segments.

I'm sorry, the transparency map was what I worked up in photoshop. The cloth is from DAZ's fantasy wrap.

You're a braver man than I! LOLZ The feet! OMG! Eeesh, I can Imagine! I've only recently gotten into full head substitutions and I can't imagine the problems of doing that to feet.
Rigging makes my brain hurt! Oy! Conforming clothes on top of that?!?! Woohoo for you!
Just standing there, it looks magnificent! How does it hang on her when she moves?
Great job! Very very cool work! You've come a long way! ^__^ V,,

Lokai2000 In reply to Joelglaine [2006-12-08 04:30:48 +0000 UTC]
There is a way to cheat on the rigging. You can use a .cr2 file that already has the body parts you need. You just have to replace the .obj file pointers in the file.
The feet... that was a different story....

Ooh, shiny! Breaking the clothing into individual parts probably helped with the leg stretching issue you have mentioned before. For example, it would be way more difficult trying to conform long pants or long boots to stretched legs. Even though the parts seem to conform here, posing the legs can still potentially disalign the conformed parts and cause some serious pokethru. Amazing how complicated things can get when trying to simply change the character's body proportions. As you might have noticed, I played a lot with this in my gallery, and people have no idea all the trouble I went through.

Lokai2000 In reply to ken1171 [2006-12-08 04:32:49 +0000 UTC]
I, certainly, have a much better idea of the trouble you have gone through and respect you all the more for it.
The armor does conform although not 100% perfectly. Sometimes I have to tweak the bends to correct for some poke throughs.
If I "unstretch" the body parts, it conforms just fine.
๐: 0 โฉ: 1
ken1171 In reply to Lokai2000 [2006-12-08 22:22:52 +0000 UTC]
The conforming probs happen because figure and outfit skeletons don't match in joint alignment and number of weighted vertexes. Thus, when a joint is bent, the vertex trajectories will differ enough to get disaligned.
Did you notice DAZ finally realized how unfriendly to Poser developers those pesky JCMs are and decided to take a different approach on the upcoming Vicky4? I think I already dropped MANY outfit projects for both Aiko and Hiro because of the technical problems related to JCMs - even because those are completely undocumented. This is certainly some great news, for it will greatly reduce development times.
At the same time, I e-frontier announced Poser 7 SE will be available for those who pre-ordered it as soon as this Monday!!

๐: 0 โฉ: 1
Lokai2000 In reply to TsubasaShi [2006-12-07 03:37:33 +0000 UTC]
The feet... so many nightmares...
I modified Aikos foot mesh in 3DSMax. The original intent was to create a morph target, but that didn't go so well. Two of the toes were removed and the remaining toes were resized.
The real headache was figuring out how to replace the feet in Aiko's geometry.
Again, the ears are modified meshes from Blacksmith3D's Bucky Chucky character. (and I mean heavily modified!)

Lokai2000 In reply to TsubasaShi [2006-12-08 04:36:39 +0000 UTC]
The basic shape is not all the hard. (Have Fun)
Full body morphs...
voluptuous=1.0
Young=1.0
Breast3=0.5
nailslong=4.0
neckstretch=1.0
Head morphs....
pRealistic 0.4 (or so)
to many others to mention.
Then you can stretch the forearms (xscale=120%), and shins (yscale 120%).
All finger2 and 3 parts get xscale 105%.
