My family visited your country in 2006, just after the VE Commodore was introduced. I actually saw one of the utes in Sydney, just after we left the airport. It blew my mind that these sort of cars were still being made. Since then, there's a company in Colorado called Left Hand Utes that has found a loophole for getting around our 25 year grey import rule. They take the dashboard, engine, and other parts out of a Pontiac G8 or Chevrolet SS, transplant them into a VE or VF (respectively), and then register it using the donor car's VIN. As far as most states are concerned, it's just a kit car based on a vehicle that was officially sold here. They're crazy expensive, but I'd love to own one someday.
