Description Steps on how I painted the hand in this pic [link] , sketched on paper, painted in photoshop.
I did tighter pencils for the face, but the pencils for the hand was rather loose as I was rushing to get this done in time and I'm working on being more confident with my painting.

• I start by just blocking in my colours with a standard hard edge brush in photoshop. On a hand like this you get more pinks and reds on the ends of the fingers and more yellowy on the fleshier bits between each joint.

• I start painting up each finger, using the standard soft brush at a lowish opacity to build up smooth tones and the hard edge brush for sharp contrast bits and lines. Skin tones will pick up colouring from the environment - I've added hints of the shirt grey on the side of the thumb/palm and picked up some darker tones where the iphone touches the finger/thumb.

Right down the corridor, left at the big door, past the potplant and you're there. As for the light, a nice row of LED's do the trick for the studio.

Waaa haa HAA!

No No No...I meant that your work is the MILKY way, and the BUD light.

Intoxicating, with just the right amount of chocolatey goodness.

It's incredible how it started and then finished! You do the colors in just one layer?

(and you cheated, the iPhone appears from nowhere like magic! Hahha just kidding)

The hand was painted on one layer, but separate to the shirt and background.
As for the number of steps in this tutorial - what I do when I paint a picture is save a smaller version every now and then and create a photoshop file that allows me to see my own progress. Believe me, if you spend a whole stack of time on say, some wrinkles on a shirt or something, its nice to be able to go back and compare and realize that, yes, you DID get something done. Unfortunately I didnt save any smaller versions that show mid paint on the iPhone coz
a. it came together really quickly and
b. I wasnt actually thinking of making this into a step by step tutorial.
But yes, it is a magic iphone - but then every iphone is magic, until it gets no reception when you want to make a call!

Hahahaha cool, man!

The number of layers really bothers me, as I do my artworks with A2 paper size and 300DPI, and the PSD files become huge, about 200 to 500MB! I'm thinking here to begin working on A3 size, and do A2 sizes only if it's necessary! ^^

Thanks!

Thanks man. Never tried doing a video, wouldnt know where to start. Not sure how interesting it would be to watch - I'm not particularly fast, as I tend to get lost in the details.
