New issue of Agent X9 "Warlords of phoenix" Modesty story and the second cover I did for the magazine (first one here [link] ) Its just hitting the streets in Sweden so I have permission to post it.Big Modesty Blaise fan, so it was really great to get another go at a cover - a few more of them and I might start getting a real handle on the character

I was just downstairs and looked at this image! My parents read Modesty Blaise so it keeps coming here, and I really noticed there was a change in style for the fronts. I think it looks really good, and I'm really impressed.
May I ask what program you used to make this?

Anyone who holds a nihontΕ like this doesn't know how to use one ... at least the handle is about the right length, though.

In the comic Modesty picks up a sword but then throws it at the feet of her opponent, distracting them while she kicks them. I originally painted her holding it with one hand, then as you see it. Modesty is definitely a character that would know how to use a weapon properly (its her whole schtick) and I imagined her holding it wrong as an extra distraction - but when I finished it, I really wished I had done her holding it in a proper two handed grip. But by then it really was too late to change anything coz of the deadline and I just had to get it out. Bit of regret really - oh, well.
Anyway, thanks for commenting - and I hope the length is about right coz I referenced a real one.

Thanks! I painted the Samurai separately to the forground figure and then fiddled with the colour saturation when I put the two paintings together. I probably wont post a step by step of this one, but here are some I have already posted
