Description
This is the fruits of my attempts at using Adobe Illustrator's pen tool for my line art. My first attempt really, and I know there are some areas where lines may not be connecting, etc etc, but since it's my first go with the pen tool I demand some leeway! Besides, I need your help. Yes, YOUR help!Using the pen tool takes quite a lot of effort and time compared to the normal way I do it. I spent more than two/three times as long on this picture than I normally do. That said, I'm wondering if the effort is worth it? I believe I can eventually cut down on the time it takes to complete a picture using the pen tool if I practice it enough, but if the art isn't very good/people prefer the way it looked before, than I want to know so I don't go bother putting a lot of effort into something that I shouldn't be.
The simpler question is: Do you like the way the line art looks in this picture? Or would you prefer it the way I normally draw it? Honesty is important!
And before I forget, there's been quite a few people who've offered help/tips of some sort, but lately and were right there to answer many of my questions/guide me on this quest. Many thanks to them and to everyone who helped me one way or the other with the pen tool!
In an attempt to get more practice with the pen tool (if people like the way it looks that is), I will be accepting over nine thousand edit requests to this picture! And there's no restrictions, you can ask for anything! Well maybe not nine thousand or ANYTHING, but I'll be accepting more than usual for this picture. Still not willing to add more characters/change the pose (at least not change it very much). So if you'd like to see something in this picture let me know. It's a "basic" picture for a reason, after all!
PS: I know there's no shading. I'll add it eventually!
PSS: Used a reference image to help get the basic pose down for this image.
PSSS: My gosh am I good at backgrounds or what? I should make them professionally. Line line line line color and done!
PSSSS: I'm going to get something to eat now.

I think an OTM gag would be perfect for her.

I personally like your older style more, but this one's pretty interesting, too! Either way, I'm interested in seeing how far you can go with the pen tool.
As for a request, how's about a cleavegag over a cloth stuffed in her mouth, and a cloth blindfold over her eyes?

Put me in the ranks of the crusty old curmudgeons who don't like change and want everything done as it always was. In other words, I perfer your old style.
Perhaps I just need time to warm up to this, but personally, I do find the thick-line comic style of your old drawings much nicer and, dare I say, cuter than this technique of yours.
Not that there's anything technically wrong with this. As well, it's always good to try new styles, diversify, learn new ways to do things. Still, I find your old style more visually appealing. A simple cartoony style, and I mean that as a compliment. It was very enjoyable to look at.
So that's my . As for edits? *Shrug* Ballgag? Leather bondage harness? Mostly naked or in a fur bikini with a wooden bit gag and placed on a primitive altar? [link] I'm just tossing out random ideas here, so work on others who have a more vested interest in seeing their edits come to life.

I do think that, whether I decide to go with this style or my old one, that I'll try the pen tool a little bit more before I decide for sure. Perhaps in a few pictures I'll improve/people will begin to find it more enjoyable. Perhaps not. Time tells all! That said, I'm glad you were honest with me Mr. Pixel, and I especially enjoyed the explanation why you prefer one over the other. So far it's been pretty even between people liking and disliking the change.
And I'll keep your suggestions in mind, too. Thanks again!

On further reflection, one other thing I prefer about your old style is its uniqueness. It had a fingerprint of sorts. I could look at it and see "Yep, that's a Lure Drawing."
With this, though, it may start to look better, but it's also starting to look... generic, for lack of a better term. And coupled with what I said about about cuter style, it's just not as interesting. Works that I may not find interesting due to the bondage I still found quite pleasing to look at, just because I like your style. This, though, is moving away from that in a way I don't like.
Of course, maybe a bit of shading can fix that, and what's to say it won't improve with time to the point where it looks like your work again?

I suppose my thick lines were a pretty good give away it was my art, haha. I know exactly what you mean by having a generic look to it though. I definitely don't want my art to just look like all the other art, even if it does end up making it look better.
Maybe I should be looking on how to change the pen style into something a bit more unique. Maybe the shading will help it to look more like mine. So many questions! I hope you'll let me know if it starts to look more like my style if I use it for awhile.

I like these lines better than your others. No offense to the other pictures intended (do pictures have feelings? I'm not a picture I don't know)
I'd love to suggest an edit but unfortunately I'm not very good with thinking of (interesting) alternate versions!

LureDA In reply to MysticalSkeleton [2009-08-13 00:45:21 +0000 UTC]
I appreciate your opinion very much. The other pictures might not though, if they do indeed have feelings. I hear some pictures can be very sensitive!
And an edit doesn't have to be particularly interesting, just something you'd personally like to see~ If you don't want to suggest something that is 100% fine though!

Well, if she is a ninja or at least has ninja training as her profile says, I'd wager that she could likely escape from this situation easily. I'd say she needs more ropes around her chest and arms to keep them in place. Maybe one tied from her neck to her knees to keep her in that position. Perhaps not even that is enough? I guess we'll find out...?
Hope that is interesting enough of a suggestion

It certainly is, and you are indeed correct! She can escape from such a simple binding attempt with relative ease, which is where everyone else comes in, hehe.
Thank you for the suggestion

Yeah, I'll be honest this looks a lot better then your hand drawn stuff. The first stuff was good but this looks a lot more sound. With some practice I'm sure you'll really get the hang of it and get quicker with it. :3

Put her in her dom outfit. Panel Blindfold with Harness Ball GAg. Add Leather Straps around Her Ankles, Thighs and Calves, Waist and above and below her breasts.
Add a collar and leash too, and maybe a sign that says
Kaiju and Grid Waz here!
