PART_2 ! General
So... this is the first part in featuring some extremely useful tutorials which can be found on DA (and some from off-site as well). This one isn't limited on digital art only, but the rest will be. I wanted to post everything in one journal, but theres 200 thumbnail limit, sooo yeah I decided to divide everything in following categories: sketching/referencing/anatomy etc, General, blending, steps, color, perspective/Composition/value, Walkthrough, nose, hair, skin, photoshop/wacom, brushes, eyes, lips, textures, ears, fabric/clothes, environment, misc (how to paint water, fire, rocks, rain, clouds, pearls etc. ). This one is about Sketching/referencing/anatomy etc.. In every journal I will also include some interesting videos that I think you should check out
And, if you know about some tutorials that can be helpful to other artists, note me, thank you

pendragon-09 In reply to MagicnaAnavi [2013-10-27 18:42:23 +0000 UTC]
I usually use paint tool Sai and I usually use photoshop for the finishing touches
I also use a tablet.

hmm, I really don't know that much about sai, but I can recommend you some videos on yt about blending in photoshop. Also, you can try adjustment layers in photoshop to better control colors...

that would be greatly appreciated, uhm what software do you use?
I use levels,curves,hue/saturation and color balance then finalize usually with
vibrance and maybe gaussian blur

BTW what tablet are you using? there's so many kinds now
that I don't know which one to get when I save up

it is a bit confusing
wacom intuos 4. Wacom bamboo are best for beginners. But you can use them later on as well, I know a lot of artists that are really good, and they still use bamboo. But it doesn't matter that much which one is, as long as its wacom, best pen pressure IMO.

pendragon-09 In reply to MagicnaAnavi [2013-11-03 15:40:43 +0000 UTC]
yeah, I'm finally getting the hang of the bamboo now.
just getting ready when I "upgrade" though with the price of
intuos that'll be a while
thanks MagicaAnavi, I know your very busy but still make some time
to reply I know some good artist never do that anymore, you're really awesome

wait, part three was out? I didn't notice
BTW can I ask, do you use black on your lineart? then just color the black to a slightly deeper color
than the base?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
MagicnaAnavi In reply to pendragon-09 [2013-11-08 17:17:36 +0000 UTC]
yeah, its out
I keep my sketch on separate layer, so when I get to certain point in artwork, I just disable it.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
pendragon-09 In reply to MagicnaAnavi [2013-11-08 18:21:03 +0000 UTC]
You dont use an outline? Sorry if that sounded stupid, its just that when i disable a sketch there will be gaps on the colors
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
MagicnaAnavi In reply to pendragon-09 [2013-11-08 18:30:26 +0000 UTC]
yeah, I use sketch, or lineart if you will, but I use it only till 30% artwork is done, after that I disable it, delete or whatever since I don't need it anymore. I also tend to change a lot of things during the process of painting, so I don't want to follow the sketch strictly

pendragon-09 In reply to MagicnaAnavi [2013-11-08 20:46:01 +0000 UTC]
That's really helpful thanks, i can't believe your style is all self taught, you should do a video or a speed paint
I'm uhm...maybe timid and afraid of ruining the colors but i'm slowly getting out of that and taking risks

MagicnaAnavi In reply to pendragon-09 [2013-11-09 12:33:00 +0000 UTC]
oh man, I tried, but my photoshop for some strange reasons stops working after like 5min while recording. I tried several different recoding softwares, but ps still crashes after few minutes....
Make backup psd files, and experiment, that way if you mess it up, you can go back
