They are part of the advanced shield system.

No landing gear but she can do water landings.
Her fighter bay is on the underside toward the middle. You can see it best on the side view of the ship. Its the area that has a lip to it.

The designs from the show are based around carriers so it's like a command deck. In my design it holds the bridge of the ship as well as docks for cargo shuttles, shield generators, and light railguns.
It would be far from fragile since the material the ship is made from can take a direct hit from a house sized meteor and still remain full in tacked.

I get it, it just looks that way... the "neck" holding the deck is definitely weaker than a full-volume hull would be.
Anyway... cool enough. Wicked details, convincing materials... restecp
