Description
"I can't believe my eyes! Dragons! I thought they were just legends my mum used to tell us about to scare us. But here they are! Maybe mum got here before us.""So varied are these dragons! Some look like the dragons of legend, others look like creatures not even our darkest dreams could conjure up. Even so they seem to belong to one society with their own form of communication."
"They seem able to release a gas from their maws and other parts of their bodies like their claws. The gas seems to react in strange ways, creating fire, water, and even shadows."
Species: Dragon
Habitat: Varied
Diet: Omnivorous
Dragons are the dominant race of Medeisia. They are a sentient race with their own form of communication consisting of body language, clicks, chirps, roars, and growls. They never had a name for themselves, they simply were. Humans gave them their name cause of their resemblance to the dragons from Earthen legends. Dragons are nomadic and solitary by nature and thus never formed civilizations. Where humans used tools to become top dog, Dragons used their own strengths and abilities. As a result developing technology was never necessary, meaning Dragons are a primitive race with no technology or cities.
Dragons have an organ that releases a gas. The organ is normally located at the back of their mouth, but has been seen located in other parts of their bodies as well. The kind of gas varies from dragon to dragon and reacts to the Mana differently. The most common gas creates a burst of flames, but other effects have been noted: water, lightning, poison, light, and even shadows. These Mana attacks are their primary defense as well as attack.
Dragons vary greatly in not only appearance, but also in abilities and strengths. The reason for this is believed to be because of the Mana in the air. Scientists believe that the mutations caused by Mana has mixed with their evolution to drastically increase the amount of speciation occurring within their race. The result is a race made up of several different species but still a united one. The main features that tie Dragons together as one race are their intelligence, communication, resemblance to dragons from Earthen legends, and their Mana attacks.
Although Dragons do have a society, it's limited. They prefer to live freely, unrestricted by the laws of civilized society. They have no true leader, although they have an undying respect for the elderly. The oldest Dragons, known as Ancients, serve as guides to younger Dragons and in times of need as leaders to the Dragon society.
After the arrival of Humans, dragons from every corner of the world turned to the oldest Ancient, Uuan, for guidance and leadership. As a result a temporary village has formed around his home in the swamp and soon it would be the start of civilization for dragons.
