People forget how smart Mabel is. She is ridiculously silly and easily distracted, but she is far from ditzy. She put a sock opera into production within two days. She's solved as many problems as dipper with him rift by her side. She is impulsive and smart.
Hence why she thought it was a good idea (rightly so, until they land) to use giant-golf-drive as transportation up a mountain. Good idea. Poor follow-through in landing but good idea
