Now obviously the next episode will deal with Dipper and Mabel learning about how Stan's brother ended up in the dimention between dimentions and that Stan had been working on getting the portal working again just to get him back.
I think knowing that this is what Stan was doing and nothing sinister shows he is really a nice guy (a cheapskate and a fraud sure but a nice guy)

In one of the early episodes Stan (as in Grunkle Stan) has a car with "Stanley" written on it, even though Stan stands for Stanford.
So I'm thinking that's his real name (Alex Hirsch confirmed that this wasn't a mistake).
So they'd both be Stan Pines.

It's obvious one of the two twins is named Stan so to public who signed and know of it he's dead but technically he's not.

That would be instesrting and Stan and the Author will be helpingΒ here since they know more about Gravity Falls especially if the reason for Mabel's disapperance it cause of Bill Cypher.

That's the twist, Stan and the author will be missing too, everything's destroyed and the books disappeared. So it took years to rebuild everything (that's why I said teenage Dipper, the story will jump several years later). So this time Dipper will team up with the rest of the Mystery Shack crew (Soos and Wendy) and Pacifica.

Maybe but it would take the focus off the fact Dipper and Mabel's trip to Gravitiy Falls is a summer vacation and the fact Mabel is missing it would lose one of it's main sources of humor as well as light hearted nature at most.

Well, that's what happened to Ben10 as well. I don't see why not? Establish a fandom first, hook them up with mysteries and promise for better things to come and we will see what happened next.
