The poses of the people might remain the same, but the colors around them and the object between them convey completely different meanings. Be they prostrate and on their knees with fear, or the same with joy.

I see this and all I can think of is the opening and closing songs from Paranoia Agent. A part of me likes to think that Bill is a lot like Maromi. But the point is, both the opening and closing of this anime like to pretend everything is calm and peaceful and happy when there is an underlying threat of something not right lingering in the back of your mind. Also, look up the English lyrics to the opening (Dreamland Obsessional Park). They are downright disturbing.

Here's my theory;
Nathaniel Northwest was a patsy, right? A village idiot? A total embarrassment? And he obviously had a kid. A kid who probably wanted to escape his father's humiliating reputation and to be above the people mocking him.
Enter evil Dorito.
I think Bill made a deal with the Northwest family to give them fame, fortune, power, and prestige. And with that, they would fulfil a request in a few dozen decades. The power went to their heads and they used every evil and immoral tactic to build the fortune further. But with the apocalypse nearing, Bill is gonna come to collect.
