Description
This is a sculpt I did for Virgin Comics. Is one of their comic book characters called "Ramayan" the worrior prince. It'll be a full color hand painted collectable figurine. This is based on the cover art from one of their comics called Rama painted by Alex Ross. It's about 11 1/2" tall.

That is some really nice work. I'm a fan of Alex Ross, so I admire the fact that you get to work with him in a way.
I almost don't want to see the painted version, because I really like the gray w/blue gems look.

Stunning. Absolutely stuning. What color is the super sculpey that you mix into it? Does there exisist non-firm gray super scupley? And to what ratio do you mix super sculpey and gray firm super sculpey?

your stuff is unbelievable. How long does it take for you to actually finish a piece? I know they differ from project to project, but for this one how many hours did you have to spend? Great stuff!!!

Man, you are a clay, sculpy, sculpting God! I bow to you!
I wish I had your skills man. I can't hardly even draw!... or type.
What kind of material do you use? KIDDING! I saw you answered that atleast twice already.
Serious note tho, I wish I could get together with ya and make a dvd tutorial of sorts with you on how you sculpt.

What kind of clay is that? super sculpy firm or plastilina? And I wonder how you were able to get it to be on that piece of cloth, expsecially during the sculpting process where it is still soft

MarkNewman In reply to Saferous [2007-03-23 21:50:08 +0000 UTC]
Super sculpey mixed with Gray firm SS. This is sprayed with a gray primer paint. When I was sculpting it the body was on an armature stand.
Then I sculpted the cloth part separately and attached it after.

I do the same mixture! and use sandable primer. Cool, I'm doing something right! I bought a ton of the Hard Promat before they discontinued it. It's a pain to soften, but really gives the regular Super Sculpey density and strength.

I hate super sculpey ^_^
I just get annoyed trying to manipulate it before taking the knife to it.
But normal sculpey is too soft. So I continue to hate SS
Great work on the sculpture, you rule!
