For me, it was an escape where my curiosity wouldn't be bound by the subjective attitudes of my family members. Nowadays, we see many creative institutions under attack, and school systems and their personnel chronically underfunded. I wish the teachers who have been underpaid the best of luck in advocating for better salaries and supplies.
