This really is great experimentation - I think your crazy - but that is in a nice way
There is a little too much in the way of shadow lightness in this, though reducing it will really stuff the ball visibility with the sun where it is. How about two seperate renders - one with the sun above but not too bright, then overlay this on top with a good degree of transparency.
Not sure how you would overcome the jaggedness of the piece, perhaps scale this up, I assume its a 257x257 raw file - try scaling it up to a bigger one and then in the combine dialog, copy existing and smooth highest to see what that would do to these triangles - maybe not much, but worth a go.
Great to see, well done and keep up the experimentation.

There is a bit of banding on the bottom part of the render .. but that can be easily fixed in PS.
Also, I'd try working on the lighting a bit because its hard to see the balls ...
Overall a nice job though ..

you still need to sort out some anti-aliasing problems, but u can do that later in PS or sth
the opening in the sky looks weird
it makes it so that this pic seems almost 2d. and kinda conflicts with the 3d terrain
fix that up, and this will be a very nice and original peice
