"Without You v2.0"Darkness surrounds me
enveloping, caressing, smothering.
I turn on the lightswitch of my mind
sending thoughts scattering like
insects at the radiant brilliance.
I find myself thinking, pondering
what my life would be life without you.
Never feeling your soft caress
as you lay beside me in bed.
Never seeing the candlelight
dance in your emerald eyes.
Never hearing your cascading laughter
refreshing as a waterfall in the desert
to my soul...
Without you I would be a ignorant zombie
walking around. Never whole, always yearning.
Just as dead, just not realizing it.
Because I had never met that one thing
that makes my life truly worth living and
fighting for
each
and
every
day...
You.
And in that moment I rediscover
for the first time what I have in you.
I reach across the table
and take your hand in mine.
Gently brush it against my lips
as I make a sad attempt to tell you
how much you mean to me.
(And fail)
"What was that for?" you ask.
Again I smile "Because you're worth it."
And that will always be enough.
I love you...
Always have, always will
And you smile...

Oh man, that was truly amazing. and it is so hard to write a good romantic poem, (well maybe just for me ) you are one of the best writers i have read. and u must have a great wife. i hope you and her have a long and happy marrige.

A very moving piece. The imagery you presented in your poem is truly wonderful. I really like how you invoke the images:

You use the contrast images is this line most effectively. Wonderful work. Your wife is very lucky. Congrats on the DP!!
